Holmes played the last four years at Frostburg State, appearing in 32 games between 2022-24. This past season was a career year for Holmes, who recorded eight sacks, 18.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, a pass breakup and 68 total tackles. He logged 14 sacks, 32.5 tackles for loss, 141 total tackles, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery at Frostburg State. Last year, Holmes had 10-plus tackles twice, doing so in back-to-back games against Wheeling and West Virginia State, combining for six tackles for loss, 24 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble. He had 2.5 sacks against West Virginia Wesleyan. Holmes was All-MEC First Team last year, finishing second in the conference in tackles for loss and sacks.
 
“Yasir Holmes was one of the better Division 2 players in the country,” Whitten said. “He’s a disruptive player, a guy who comes off the edge and makes a lot of plays.”
 
Holmes is an Indian Head, Maryland, native, where he played at Lackey High School. He will major in general studies at Tarleton State University.
