Career Accolades 
Earned All-WAC second team honors in the high jump at the 2022 WAC Outdoor Championships … Ranks fourth in school history in the indoor high jump (6’ 8”). 

Freshman (2022) 
Outdoor: Jumped at six meets … Received his first set of postseason All-WAC credentials when he placed sixth in the high jump (6’ 6.75”) at the WAC Outdoor Championships … Also finished 15th in the long jump at the meet … Began the year with a fourth-place finish and season personal record of 6’ 7.5” at the ACU Wes Kittley Invitational … His season personal record in the high jump ranked 26th in the NCAA South Central Region … Earned three medals during the regular season in the event … Claimed second place at the UTA Invitational and North Texas Classic and finished third at the Baylor Invitational … Placed seventh and obtained a lifetime personal record in the long jump (21' 6.25") at the SFA Invite. 
Indoor: Competed at two meets … Finished ninth at the WAC Indoor Championships in the high jump and took 11th place in the triple jump with a lifetime personal record of 44’ 9.75” … Took third place in the high jump with a lifetime personal record of 6’ 8” at the FasTrack Collegiate Challenge in his Texan debut. 

Riesel High School 
Lettered three times in track and field … Was ranked eighth in Texas and 68th nationally in the high jump in 2021 … Leapt 6’ 8” to win the 2021 TX UIL 3A State Championship … Also competed in the long jump and triple jump … Earned four varsity letters apiece in basketball and football as well … Received three sets of first team All-District honors in both sports … Was also a two-time letterman in baseball … A-B Honor Student.

Nickname is “Jay” … 2021 graduate of Riesel HS in Riesel, Texas … Son of Douglas Ervin and Latonja Howlett … Has a sister, Lyric Degrate … Missed 18 months of prep sports with injuries but returned his senior year and became a track and field state champion … Majoring in psychology … Born May 10.
