Elianne Douglas-Miron has quickly turned the Texan Tennis program elite in their short NCAA Division I history.
Entering her seventh season at the helm in 2025-26, Douglas-Miron has guided Tarleton State to back-to-back silver medal finishes at the WAC Championships, the 2022 WAC Regular Season title, and 18 All-Conference awards. The 2022 WAC Coach of the Year has also helped student-athletes obtain 31 ITA Scholar-Athlete awards.
Named the 12th head coach in program history on July 18, 2019, Douglas-Miron once again led the Texans to both individual and team success in 2024-25. Under Douglas-Miron's guidance, senior Noelia Lorca captured the first-ever WAC Fall Tennis Invitational singles title in October 2024. Lorca's victory allowed her to receive an automatic bid for the ITA Conference Masters Championships in Rome, Georgia.
It was business as usual for the Texans in Spring 2025, with Douglas-Miron helping Tarleton State to expected success. Douglas-Miron was instrumental in helping Maria Castano win WAC Freshman of the Year and All-WAC First Team honors. The Texans also had three more All-WAC honors in 2025 (Adeliya Mukhutdinova - Second Team, Noelia Lorca - Second Team, Maretha Burger/Emma Persson - Second Team Doubles) and two players named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
Tarleton State posted a perfect 7-0 record at home in 2025 and earned the No. 2 seed in the WAC Tournament. The Texans won 13 matches, collected 12 weekly WAC awards and advanced to the semifinals of the WAC Tournament.
The Fall of 2024 began with two Texans qualifying for the main draw of the ITA Texas Regional Championships, with Emma Persson advancing to the Round of 16 with wins over opponents from SMU and North Texas. Tarleton State Tennis finished off the 2024 ITA Texas Regional Championships with an All-Texan doubles final of the consolation draw, with Persson and Lorca clinching the consolation doubles draw.
Douglas-Miron guided the Texans to a 17-4 regular season en route to another finalists finish at the WAC Championships in 2024. The Texans went 9-1 at home and won at least 17 matches for the third consecutive season. Tarleton State went a perfect 4-0 in its debut season at the Tarleton Tennis Facility, including a 4-3 win over in-state rival Abilene Christian to clinch the No. 2 seed in the regular season finale. In addition to finishing in the top two in the conference once again, Douglas-Miron was instrumental in helping Martha Makantasi land on the Singles All-WAC First Team. Elsa Boisson and Lorca also earned a spot on the Singles All-WAC Second Team under Douglas-Miron's leadership.
The 2024 season began with the Texans winning nine out of their first 10 matches and opened WAC play on the road with a pair of victories. When the Tarleton Tennis Facility opened and was ready for action, Tarleton State defeated Utah Tech 6-1 in its first match on its brand new courts on March 28, 2024. In addition to winning eight out of their final 10 matches, the Texans had multiple players earn spots on the WAC All-Tournament Team. Lorca and Clara Sobius both earned a spot on the 2024 WAC All-Tournament Team following Tarleton State's silver medal finish.
During the 2022-23 season, the Texans went 17-7 overall (7-2 WAC), going 7-2 at home, 8-3 in true road matches and 2-2 at neutral sites. Even with such a young team, six of the nine players being underclassmen including five freshmen, they finished second in the Western Athletic Conference by one match, earning a No. 2 seed in their first ever WAC Tournament. Playing at the Arlington Tennis Center, the Texans rolled their quarterfinals and semifinals opponents, Seattle U and New Mexico State, each 4-1. In the championship, it came down to a tiebreaker in the third set in the final match with the team score tied 3-3, before ultimately the Texans took silver. The loss in the championship snapped a season-long six-match winning streak, but still the Texans ruled the WAC All-Tournament Team after the fact, having the most players honored as Elsa Boisson and Celia Vaudiau were named to the 2023 WAC Women's Tennis All-Tournament Team in both singles and doubles, plus Emma Persson and Clara Sobius joined them on the doubles team.
In 2022-23, Douglas-Miron coached the WAC Player of the Year, the WAC Freshman of the Year, and had two Singles All-WAC First Team players. Persson became the fifth player in program history to be named the conference player of the year, and the first since the Texans joined the WAC. She was the first freshman in Tarleton Tennis history to earn Player of the Year honors. Persson also took home the Freshman of the Year award and was on the Singles All-WAC First Team, along with Boisson. In the regular season, Tarleton State of course had an exceptional conference slate, but they had a memorable non-conference run as well. After losing their first two matches against the No. 4 ranked team in the nation, Oklahoma, and SEC power Missouri, Tarleton won nine of their next 11 matches, with road wins at Oral Roberts, UTSA, Texas State and Sacramento State. They also knocked off Drake at home.
The 2021-22 season was one of the greatest seasons in program history. The Texans were WAC Southwest Division regular season champions, the first program across Tarleton Athletics to win a WAC title. Tarleton went 18-4 overall, 5-0 in conference play, and 10-0 against WAC teams altogether. The Texans were 8-1 at home, 5-3 in true road matches, and 5-0 in neutral site matches. The Texans would have been the No. 1 seed in the WAC Tournament, if not for their reclassification to NCAA Division I postseason pause.
Upon a vote by her peers, the other 10 head coaches in the WAC, Douglas-Miron was voted WAC Coach of the Year, becoming the first head coach across Tarleton Athletics to win the WAC Coach of the Year award in the two years Tarleton State has been a member of the conference. At 18-4, the Texans won their most matches in a single-season since 2005-06. Eight of those wins were sweeps, Tarleton State's most shutout victories in a season in at least the past 15 years. In just their second season at the NCAA Division I level, Tarleton State went 16-4 against fellow D1 opponents. The Texans had two 6+ match winning streaks, ending the year on a seven-match run, their longest winning streak in eight years. Tarleton State went undefeated in the conference for the first time in at least the past 15 years, while claiming their first winning record on the road since 2017-18. Of the eight women Douglas-Miron played at singles, six were .500 or better, five at a .600+ winning percentage. The Texans’ combined singles record was 80-41 (.661). In doubles, the Texans were a combined 40-16 (.714) in matches, and won the doubles point in every single one of their last 10 matches. Seven of the eight Texans who played competitive doubles in 2021-22 had winning records.
Under Douglas-Miron in 2021-22, Tarleton State athletes won five WAC season awards -- three All-WAC First Team Singles awards, one All-WAC First Team Doubles award, and one All-WAC Second Team Singles award. During the year, the Texans won 12 WAC weekly awards, winning at least one in eight of the 14 weeks that awards were distributed. Four times Tarleton State swept the weekly awards. The Texans had six Singles Athlete of the Week awards and six Doubles Team of the Week honors. Of Tarleton State's eight-woman roster, six received at least one WAC weekly award, four different athletes in singles, six different athletes in doubles, and four earning both.
Douglas-Miron led the Texans in their first season at the NCAA Division I level in 2020-21 to second place in the Western Athletic Conference, going 5-1 in WAC play, 11-10 overall. Tarleton State won five of their last six matches to close the season out strong, including four wins over WAC opponents. Four Texans earned season All-WAC honors -- one All-WAC First Team Singles award, two All-WAC Second Team Singles awards, and one All-WAC Second Team Doubles award.
In 2019-20, her debut season as a head coach ended abruptly after 10 matches due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the final match of her rookie season was one for the record books. Douglas-Miron and the Texans upset No. 18 Florida Southern in comeback fashion. She earned her first victory as a head coach in her first match, a 6-1 win against Texas Wesleyan on Jan. 31, 2020.
Douglas-Miron took on the leadership of the program after spending two months as the interim head coach following the resignation of longtime coach Lance Drake. She stepped into the lead role and guided the No. 5-seeded Texans past Cameron and top-seeded Angelo State to the LSC Championship Tournament title match.
She spent the previous two seasons as the graduate assistant coach for Tarleton State and the team won 22 matches with Douglas-Miron on staff, including 12 in the spring of 2019 when Tarleton won five matches against top-20 ranked teams in the nation. In her first season with Tarleton, Douglas-Miron helped coach Tarleton State to 10 wins on the season – including a road upset of then-No. 36 Angelo State. She also coached the LSC Player of the Year and ITA South Central Region Rookie of the Year.
Before coming to Tarleton State, the Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, worked as a Communication Specialist with Volt Athletics, a Seattle-based strength and conditioning online platform. At Volt, she worked closely with college coaches and athletes. This, along with her extensive D1 tennis experience, inspired Douglas-Miron to pursue the coaching path herself.
Over the course of four years playing tennis at Washington, Douglas-Miron achieved 99 wins, mostly playing at the No. 1 and 2 spots in singles and doubles. She was voted captain by her teammates, serving in this capacity from 2013-2016, and led the Huskies to a season-high No. 19 ranking in 2016. During her senior year, she was ranked as high as No. 46 in doubles and tied for first on her team with 31 total wins.
During her playing career, Douglas-Miron won many notable matches. In 2015, she defeated No. 36 Pleun Burgmans of Auburn 6-3, 6-3 and No. 54 Lauren Marker of Arizona 6-1, 6-2. In 2014, Douglas-Miron went 5-0 in the No. 2 spot, defeating No. 53 Stefanie Tan of TCU 6-1, 6-3 and beating UCLA's No. 1 doubles team of Anderson and Morton 8-3. Douglas-Miron earned an NCAA career high ranking of No. 30 in doubles and No. 75 in singles.
As a junior, Douglas-Miron was selected to join the Canadian National Training Center, where she achieved a career-best ITF junior world ranking of No. 133. She reached the singles final and won the doubles title at the 2010 U18 Canadian Junior Nationals; won the doubles title at the 2009 Yucatan World Cup; was a singles and doubles finalist at the 2009 Condor de Plata Tournament in Bolivia; won the 2009 doubles title at the Prince Cup in Miami, and won the Panama Cup doubles and singles title.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in history and communication in 2016 from Washington, earning a spot on the Dean’s List three years in a row. She also earned All-Pac 12 honorable mention titles her junior and senior year. She earned her master's degree in kinesiology at Tarleton State. She resides in Stephenville with her husband, Zane Guadagnolo, and their son, Rowan, and daughter, Juniper.
