When the 2023 season begins, Tatiana Booth will begin her third season at Tarleton State University as an assistant coach for the Texan volleyball team.
Booth helped the Texans to a 9-6 home record throughout the 2023 campaign, the Texans third consecutive winning home record in Wisdom Gym. She also helped with the development of freshman Ailie Hair who garnered freshman All-WAC honors at the conclusion of the season.
Booth helped guide a trio of Texan freshman to impressive first year campaigns in Megan Hodges, Emma Burke and Breanna McDonough who played a big part in the 2022 season.
Booth helped Tarleton make history in her first season on the sidelines in Stephenville. The Texans finished 15-14 overall and 6-2 at home on their way to a third-place finish in the WAC Southwest Division. In the process, Tarleton volleyball became the first program in the university’s WAC and D1 era to post consecutive winning seasons. With Booth serving as the lead assistant coach, Tarleton closed the fall by winning eight of its last 13 matches. Booth worked directly with Tarleton’s outside hitters, a group that ranked third in the WAC in hitting percentage (.223) and helped Tarleton finish third among its conference peers in blocks per set (2.20) and total blocks (313). Individually, she helped coach Lauren Kersey to All-WAC first team credentials.
Booth arrived at Tarleton after spending the last two years as an assistant coach at Tennessee State. With the Tigers, Booth coached the outside hitters and managed the recruiting. In her first year with the Tigers, she helped lead the team to 12 wins, including one against SEC foe Auburn.
Prior to her two seasons at Tennessee State, Booth served two seasons at Cameron University as their head coach leading the Aggies to a fourth-place finish in the Lone Star Conference in her first year. Booth’s Aggies were ranked 17th nationally in blocks per set and finished fourth in the league standings.
She also spent four years at Vernon College one as assistant before being promoted to head coach for the next three years and compiling a 76-40 record with her 2016 team going 27-12, 7-5 in conference play to qualify for an appearance at the NJCAA Region V North Volleyball Tournament. She helped Vernon College finish as one of the top junior college teams in kills and blocks.
Prior to her coaching career, Booth was a standout player at East Central University where she was named all-conference first team and all-academic, as well as racking up some Great American Conference Player of the Week awards. She finished her career in the GAC’s Top-10 all-time in career attack percentage and postseason attack percentage. She transitioned to the coaching realm with one year as the graduate assistant coach for the Tigers following her playing career.
A native of Commerce, Texas, Booth graduated from East Central University with an undergraduate degree in history and a Master of Education in sports administration.
