In 2025-26, Brandon North will begin his fourth full season as the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services after joining the Tarleton State Athletics department in February 2022.
In his role, North oversees academic advisement, initial and continuing eligibility, NCAA reporting, academic support and counseling while keeping in compliance with NCAA and WAC conference rules. He also assists in developing and implementing strategic planning for the continual improvement and enhancement of academic support services for student-athletes.
He primarily focuses on the academic success of the Tarleton State Football program while assisting in other areas as needed.
North came to Tarleton State from Kennesaw State in Georgia, where he spent two seasons as a senior academic advisor to the football team. Prior to that, he spent two years as an academic coordinator at Morgan State where he worked with the tennis programs, track and field and Life Skills.
In 2019, North was selected to participate in the N4A Steve McDonnell Professional Development Institute (PDI) New Practitioner Track. During his time with Kennesaw State, North helped the football program set new academic standards for the highest team GPA in a fall (2020) and a spring (2021) semester. In the most recent announcement of the NCAA’s APR scores, Kennesaw State boasted the highest football APR score in program history with North at its academic helm.
Before breaking into the NCAA with Morgan State, North was the Director of Athletics for St. Lucie County School District from 2013-17.
North, a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, earned his undergraduate degree from ULL in 2004. He moved on to Florida for a pair of master’s degrees – the first from Florida State in Sports Management in 2010 and the second from West Florida in Curriculum Instruction/Educational Leadership in 2018.
He and his wife, Dr. Gwinn North, reside in Stephenville with their three children, Behr, Beaux and Briggs.
