The 2025-26 season will mark Byron Anderson's 10th year as a member of the Tarleton State Athletics Department. This season also represents his second year as Associate Athletic Director for External Relations, a role he took on following three years as Associate Athletic Director for Alumni Engagement and On-Air Broadcasting.
Anderson’s first five seasons at Tarleton State were spent as Assistant Athletic Director for Development, where he played a pivotal role in the department’s growth and move to the Division 1 level, including building the Tarleton Sports Network into a robust and professional broadcast platform. In addition to his administrative duties, Anderson handles a significant number of advertising clients, securing key sponsorships for Tarleton State Athletics, while also managing a number of fundraising initiatives.
He also oversees specific donor relations and leads the Tarleton Athlete Network, a platform designed to connect Tarleton Athletics with current and former athletic alumni.
In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Anderson serves as the radio play-by-play voice for Tarleton State football and the television play-by-play voice for baseball and basketball. He oversees all on-air talent assignments for broadcasts and manages the Tarleton Sports Network, including staffing, production, and the overall operation of radio and streaming content. Beyond his Tarleton State coverage, Anderson also broadcasts WAC Baseball Tournament games and has co-hosted the United Athletic Conference (UAC) Media Day on ESPN+.
Prior to joining Tarleton State, Anderson worked as the play-by-play voice for KSTV in Stephenville, where he covered Yellow Jacket basketball and baseball and served as a sideline reporter for football. From 2006 to 2010, he was an on-air host and reporter for ESPN Radio in Dallas, covering the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and Dallas Stars. He also covered the Texas Rangers’ playoff and World Series games in 2011 and 2012 for Sirius XM Radio, and he hosted weekend sports talk on 1310 The Ticket.
Prior to his transition into athletics, Anderson worked as a math teacher and coach at Fossil Hill Middle School in Fort Worth. He earned his master’s degree in Sports Administration from Tarleton State in 2024.
A native of Keller, Texas, Anderson transferred to Tarleton State in 2001 from Richland Community College, where he earned all-conference and all-region honors and helped lead his team to consecutive national championship game appearances. At Tarleton State, he captained the 2002 baseball team and was named team MVP that season.
Anderson is married to former Tarleton State volleyball player Mary Irvine, and together they have two children: Bronson and Brylee.
