Tarleton State University Athletics

Julian Barzilli is entering his first season at Tarleton State as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Finance and Business Operations. The Texans announced his hiring on July 8, 2026.
 
Barzilli will oversee the financial strategy and business operations for one of the nation's fastest-growing athletic programs, including budget development and management, revenue planning, multi-year financial modeling, and NCAA compliance reporting.
 
Prior to Tarleton State, Barzilli held finance roles at Mississippi State, Arizona State, and UNLV, giving him a broad perspective across multiple conferences and institutional models. He is also an active member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the College Athletics Business Management Association (CABMA).
 
A native of Los Angeles, Barzilli earned his master’s degree in Sport Administration from Miami, and his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Whittier College, where he played baseball. He was later selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 31st round of the 2014 MLB Amateur Draft. Barzilli went on to play professionally before transitioning into a career in athletics administration.
 
Barzilli currently resides in Stephenville with his dog, Griffey.
