Kiyo Shimosawa, MAT, LAT, ATC, CSCS

When the 2025-26 athletic season begins, Kiyo Shimosawa will start her second season at Tarleton State. Shimosawa will be the head athletic trainer for the Texan Track and Field and Cross Country programs.
 
Prior to her arrival at Tarleton State, Shimosawa worked at Ascension Medical Group Providence in Waco and served as an athletic trainer as well as an outreach manager. She spent three years at Ascension Medical Group since the summer of 2021, and before that she served as the head athletic trainer at Ranger College for two years. She gained experience with UTSA Volleyball and Women's Tennis as an internship athletic trainer before she arrived at Ranger College.
 
Shimosawa completed professional training in Dry needling Level 2 from Structure and Function(S&F) and Fascial Manipulation ® by Stecco through S&F, and Graston Technique® Level1. She is also certified as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
 
A native of Kasugai, Japan, Shimosawa earned a master's degree in athletic training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and a bachelor's degree in Sports Science at Juntendo University, Chiba, Japan. 
 
She and her husband, Fabricio, reside in Tolar, Texas, with their children, Miyako and Akito.
