When the 2025-26 athletic campaign begins, Scott Crane will be in his third season as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Tarleton State University. Crane joined Tarleton State in September 2023 and is responsible for educating and monitoring the institution’s student-athletes, coaches, employees, and boosters regarding NCAA, conference, and state bylaws.
 
Prior to arriving in Stephenville, he spent a year at Utah Tech as Assistant Athletic Director Compliance – Football & NIL and oversaw compliance for the football program and NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) initiatives, ensuring adherence to NCAA regulations and fostering a culture of compliance within the department. He also served as the sports supervisor for the women’s tennis program.
 
Prior to his time at Utah Tech, Crane spent a year at Eastern Washington as the Director of Compliance, Crane led the compliance efforts for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, providing guidance on NCAA rules and regulations, and implementing strategies to maintain the highest standards of integrity.
 
Crane began his career in intercollegiate athletics at the University of Montana, where he served as the Assistant Director for Compliance for nearly five years. He played a crucial role in the compliance department, assisting in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures to support the athletic department's mission and goals.
 
Crane, a native of Orem, Utah, graduated from Utah Valley University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science - Psychology. He earned a master’s degree in Sports Law and Business from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 2015.
