Timothy "Coach T" Thompson will serve his second year at Tarleton State during the 2025-26 season as assistant coach under head coach, Bobby Carter. Thompson will serve as the sprints coach for both the men's and women's track and field squads.
At the 2025 WAC Indoor Championships, Thompson's sprints squad earned four men's Second Team All-WAC honors. The women's squad earned a trio of Second Team All-WAC selections, six First Team All-WAC honors and a pair of individual champions. Victoria Cameron took home the individual title in the 60 and Lauren Roy won the 200. Victoria Cameron earned a spot at the NCAA Indoor National Championships and was named a Second Team All-American with a 15th place performance in Virginia Beach, Va.
The sprints squad showcased their talent at the 2025 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships as well.The women's side posted three champions. Victoria Cameron won the individual 100 and 200 as well as ran the anchor leg in the gold medal winning 4x100 meter relay. Cameron earned WAC Female Track Performer of the Meet. The women also posted six First Team All-WAC and seven Second Team All-WAC performances. On the men's side, the sprints squad earned four top three finishes and six Second Team All-Conference honors.
Five of Thompson's individual athletes as well as the women's 4x100 meter relay qualified for the NCAA West First Rounds. Ca'terrin Cox and David Mvundura represented the Texan sprints men with Cox in the 110 hurdles and Mvundura in both the 100 and 200. Lauren Roy and Amandine Estival earned a bid to the regional in both the open 200 and 4x100 relay. Victoria Cameron posted the second best time in the 100 meters, to punch her ticket to the NCAA National Championships. She was joined by the women's 4x100 meter relay who finished in the top 12 at the First Rounds to earn a bid. Both Cameron and the women's 4x100 meter relay teams earned Second Team All-American honors. Cameron was the only non-Power Four athlete to reach the finals where she finished in ninth. The relay squad consisting Hanna Dudley, Lauren Roy, Amandine Estival and Victoria Cameron finished 15th overall among the 24 qualified teams.
Throughout the indoor season the sprints squad set 20 new all-time program top 10 bests including six new school records. In the outdoor slate, the Texans set 26 new program top 10 bests and four new school records. Victoria Cameron set the school records in the 60, 100 and outdoor 200.
The Texans sent 11 athletes ot the NCAA West First Rounds for the first time in program history. The Texans qualified in four individual events and a relay. At the NCAA National Championships, the Texans posted two First Team All-American performances, two Second Team All-American honors and an honorable mention honor. The Texan men finished 54th and the women finished 63rd in the nation.
At his first outdoor WAC Championships, the Texan women and men each recorded their highest finishes in program history. The women finished in third with 136 points and the men earned fourth with 126 points. The squad produced five event champions, two all-time WAC records, three WAC Championships records and seven school records. Victoria Cameron earned Performer of the Meet with three gold medals, scoring 22.5 points for the squad. The Texans had nine athletes win multiple medals at the outdoor conference championships.
The Texans made their first NCAA Indoor Championships with four student-athletes earning All-American Status and two First Team All-Americans. Tarleton was the only WAC school to score in either the men or women's events at the national championships. Overall, the men finished 44th on the men's side and 51st on the women's side.
At the WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, both the men and women posted their best finishes in program history. The women scored 100 more points then the squad did at the 2024 meet. The women posted four event champions and 13 First Team All-WAC selections. Nine student-athletes also earned second-team All-WAC. On the men's side, the Texans posted a pair of WAC individual championships and five First Team performances. The men garnered six second team performances as well.
Throughout the regular season, the Texans were on a torrid pace setting new school records and top 10 performance bests. In all, the Texans broke 12 school records and set 48 new school performance top 10 bests. The Texans earned 18 WAC Athlete of the Week across both the men's and women's indoor and outdoor season, the most in the conference.
In the classroom the Texans excelled as well. Victoria Cameron was named to the CSC Third Team Academic All-America Team. In addition, the Texans earned four members to the CSC Academic All-District Team. Throughout both semesters, the program tallied 77 Academic All-WAC selections.
Thompson and Carter first crossed paths as assistant coaches as the University of Nebraska. The duo spent the 2016-17 season together with the Cornhuskers before Thompson headed to Salina, Kansas to serve as an assistant coach at Kansas Wesleyan. During his time, he helped student-athletes turn in 16 all-conference performances.
Following his time with the Coyotes, he spent two seasons at Arkansas State as an assistant coach. During his two seasons, he helped produce two NCAA All-Americans, seven Sun Belt Conference (SBC) champions, nine NCAA West Prelims qualifiers, 30 All-SBC performers, three A-State school record holders, one SBC all-time and championship meet record, and 13 inclusions into A-State's top-ten all-time performance lists. After serving as an assistant coach for two seasons with the Red Wolves, Thompson moved on to become a college head coach for the first time in his career.
Ahead of the 2020-21 season, Thompson accepted the job to be the head coach of track and field at Southwestern College. He spent a pair of seasons at the helm of the Builders program. He helped guide the men's and women's teams each to a fourth place finish at the KCAC Championships. The men's team finished 24th among 64 teams at the 2022 NAIA Championships. While at Southwestern College his men's 4x400 team finished 3rd at nationals which included David Mvundura, current Tarleton student-athlete.
Most recently, Thompson served as the head coach at Columbia International University. Thompson helped the women's outdoor track and field team earn the program's first-ever conference title in 2024. During the past two seasons at the helm of the program, Thompson has guided the Rams to a plethora of success on both the men's and women's teams. He has produced 15 conference champions, 20 NCAA All-Americans, 10 NAIA All-Americans, and 40 NAIA National Qualifiers. His athletes broke 32 school records three indoor conference records and three outdoor conference records. He has helped seven athletes win eight postseason athletic honors as well as 45 Scholar Athletes.

As an athlete, Thompson competed in the 110, 100 and 200 meter sprints as well as the 4x100 and 4x400 relays at the University of Texas-Arlington from 2006-09. He helped the Mavericks win the 2007 Southland Conference Championship. Individually, he earned All-Southland in the 60-meter indoor hurdles during the same season. In his final three collegiate seasons he earned all-conference honors in the 110-meter hurdles. He was an NCAA Championships qualifier in the event in his sophomore and junior seasons. He also qualified in the same years in the 4x100 relay.
Thompson graduated South Grand Prairie High School in 2005 ending his illustrious prep career. He was a three-time district champion in the 110-meter hurdles and won one district title in the 300 meters. Thompson qualified for regionals twice and was named to the Texas Class 5A top 10 list during his senior year. He was also involved in extracurricular activities serving as a student ambassador and a member of students gaining power.
Thompson a Grand Prairie, Texas, native, graduated from University of North Texas in 2014 with a bachelor of arts and sciences.
