Texans return home for Family Weekend against ASU

STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton returns home for the first time since the 2010 season opener as the Texans host Angelo State at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 for Family Weekend.

STILL SEARCHING FOR THE FIRST “W”
The Tarleton Texans are still looking for their first win of the season as they return home for the first time since the season opener on Sept. 2.  Tarleton will host Angelo State at 7 p.m. in Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 2 for Family Weekend.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS
Tarleton and Angelo State have met 26 times before Saturday's game, and the Rams lead the all-time series, 14-12.  Tarleton has a current win streak of eight, including a 21-14 win last season in San Angelo.  Tarleton is 7-4 in Stephenville against ASU.
    
A LOOK AT THE RANKINGS  
Tarleton is ranked not ranked in either the American Football Coaches Association poll nor the D2Football.com poll.  Tarleton was picked No. 18 in the D2Football.com preseason poll, No. 15 in the Sporting News Division II preseason poll and No. 8 in the Lindy's Division II Preseason Poll.

Angelo State is not ranked in either poll.

GETTING THE WIN
The Texans started the 2006 season 0-3 and went on to win a share of the LSC South Division title.  Tarleton won the South Division opener that year at home against Texas A&M-Kingsville, 23-0 and finished 6-4.

LAST TIME AT 0-4
The last time the Texans opened the season 0-4 was in 1998, when Tarleton finished the season 3-8 overall.  Tarleton started the year 0-7.  The following year (1999), Tarleton was 5-6, but the Texans have had a winning record ever since (10-straight years).

STARTING 0-4
The Texans have started 0-4 nine previous times since becoming a senior college in 1961.  In its 50th season, Tarleton is 0-4 again.  The other seasons are (in order): 1975 (0-9), 1970 (0-7), 1973 (0-6), 1968 (0-6), 1985 (0-5), 1962 (0-5), 1991 (0-4), 1964 (0-4) and 1962 (0-4).

HOME SWEET HOME
The Texans won five of six home games the last two seasons and have taken 42 of the last 56 contests played in Memorial Stadium.  The Texans had an eight-game winning streak before the 2004 season.  A 55-14 win over Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 13, 2001 began the winning streak before a loss to Southern Arkansas to open the 2004 season ended the streak on Sept 4, 2003.

The Texans have posted a 71-38 record at Memorial Stadium since 1990 and a 55-30 record at home since joining the LSC in 1995.
