TexAnns finish up road trip with match at A&M-Commerce

COMMERCE – The Tarleton volleyball team will complete their seven game road trip Saturday, Oct. 9 in Commerce against the Lions.

The TexAnns are 14-6 this season, and just 2-3 against conference opponents. The Lions on the other hand are 7-9, with an 0-5 conference record.

Tarleton is hitting a .195 attack percentage, while averaging 12.8 kills per game, 11.8 assists per game and 15.1 digs per game. The TexAnns have also collected 105 aces and 103 blocks as a team.

The offense is piloted by Rachel Wolf, who has 220 kills, with Flynn Harrell and Stacie Murrah contributing 150 and 140 kills respectively. Jessie Hartman has assisted 480 times this season, while Danielle Barker has added 236 assists. Along with her assists, Hartman has 15 aces, but Shea McBrearty leads the TexAnns in that category with 27 aces on the season.

McBrearty also leads the defense with 290 digs, while Hartman follows with 146 digs. Wolf, Barker, and Harrell all have over 100 digs for Tarleton this season. Catherine Cutbirth anchors a staunch blocking attack with 50 total blocks, with Monica Hamel adding 41 blocks, 12 solos.

Commerce on the other hand, has hit just .159 this season, and has yet to win a conference match. They average 11.1 kills per game, 10.1 assists per game and 12.7 digs per game, and have also collected 11.5 blocks and 87 service aces.

The Lions are captained by Naomi Mays, who has 128 kills, 25 aces, and 129 digs for Commerce. Rachel Robertson leads the squad with 150 kills, while Kayla Bond has contributed 121 kills. Jordan Neal has 481 assists on the year, a team-high for the Lions.

The defense has been a strong aspect of Commerce's game, holding opponents to just a .155 hitting percentage. Dakota Crockett has 135 digs on the year, while Jordan Neal has 107 digs. Robertson leads the Lions with 45 blocks, with Terra Ousley contributing 37 blocks this season.
