Tarleton will host Lubbock Christian in women's basketball action Thursday

STEPHENVILLE – The TexAnn basketball team will play their second regular season game against the Lady Chaparrals of Lubbock Christian Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.

Tarleton is 1-0 on the year, with a 74-46 victory over Texas Wesleyan in their season opener Nov. 13 in Stephenville. In that game, they shot a .481 percentage from the field and a .714 percentage on the free-throw line. The TexAnns also held the Lady Rams to just a .306 mark from the field in the route.

The offense this season is led by Shelby Adamson, who scored 15 points in Tarleton's opener, while Morgan Stehling added 14 points and Sonya Sundberg added 12 points. Kelsey Benford also scored in double-figures with 10 points to go along with her six rebounds.

Adamson anchored the defense with four steals, while Brianna Bledsoe contributed three steals. Kiara Wright and Benford both recorded blocks for the TexAnns.

Lubbock Christian (2-2) will be another early-season test for Tarleton, coming into the contest ranked No. 20 in the NAIA National polls. They are shooting .452 as a team, with a .354 mark from the three-point line.

The Lady Chaps are led by Emily Atkins, who is averaging 20.8 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, and shooting a .450 percentage from behind the arc. Brittany Hampton has contributed 16.3 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, and 4.5 assists per game, while Haley Burton is scoring 9.8 points per game and grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game off the bench.
