TexAnns set to host Texas Woman's Monday night in Stephenville

STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton women's basketball team returns from their finals break to take on the Pioneers of Texas Woman's Monday night at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.

The TexAnns are coming off a 13-day break, last playing on Dec. 7 in Weatherford, Okla. On that Tuesday, Tarleton defeated Southwestern Oklahoma 67-53.

Tarleton (6-1) is led this season by Shelby Adamson, who's averaging 19.4 points per game, Morgan Stehling, who's averaging 13.7 points per game, and Brittnie Haley, who's averaging 9.3 points per game.

Kiara Wright is grabbing 7.4 boards per game, while Kelsey Benford is adding 6.2 rebounds per game and Haley is adding 4.8 rebounds per game.

As a team, the TexAnns are shooting 41.8 percent from the floor and 33 percent from behind the arc. Tarleton has a +16.3 point scoring margin and a +6.7 turnover margin through seven games.

Texas Woman's (7-4) has little experience on the road this season, going 1-1 in their two away games. The Pioneers are however, in game condition, playing three contests since the TexAnns last played.

Brooke Shepherd leads the way for Texas Woman's, scoring 12.9 points per game, while Jessica Hanna adds 11.9 points per game and Kayla Weaver adds 11.1 points per game. Hanna is also the one of the team's leading rebounders with six a game, while Jeanee' Thompson grabs a team high 7.8 boards per contest.

Overall, the Pioneers are scoring 67.6 points per game, but allow 61.5 points to opponents each contest. Another area Texas Woman's has struggled in is turnovers, averaging 19.3 per game.

The TexAnns lead the all-time series with the Pioneers 21-9, winning five of the last six meetings and the three most recent contests. Tarleton has also benefited from home court advantage, going 13-2 against Texas Woman's in Wisdom Gym.

The game will be broadcast on KSTV 93.1 FM and live stats will be available at Tarletonsports.com.
