ABILENE – The No. 24 Tarleton TexAnns will play a day earlier this week as the team heads to Abilene to face the Abilene Christian Wildcats in a Lone Star Conference South Division match-up. The game has been moved from ACU's Moody Coliseum to Kimbrell Arena on the campus of McMurry University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
The TexAnns (19-5, 6-3 LSC) are coming off a heartbreaking, four-point loss to No. 8 West Texas A&M at Wisdom Gym on Saturday – falling 82-78 to the Lady Buffs. ACU (15-8, 5-3 LSC) meanwhile is coming off a 77-56 thumping of Angelo State at Moody Coliseum on Saturday.
Tarleton has won the previous two meetings between the two teams, downing the Wildcats 70-64 earlier this season and 73-59 on Feb. 18 last season. Both games were played in Stephenville. The TexAnns have not beaten the Wildcats in Abilene since 2006.
Shelby Adamson leads the TexAnns averaging 11.8 points a game. She scored 23 points in Saturday's contest and averaged 16.5 points per game last week. Adamson is tops on the team with 92 assists also. Brittnie Haley is right behind her averaging 11.3 points a game after collecting her fifth double-double (17 pts, 11 rbs) of the season in Portales, N.M. last Wednesday. Haley leads the team with 6.5 rebounds a game and 32 blocks this season as well.
As a team, the Texans are shooting .459 from the field that includes a .318 percentage from beyond the arc. Tarleton converts .675 of its shots from the free-throw line.
ACU is led by the twin-duo of Jamie and Jody Meyer. Jamie leads the team averaging 19.8 points a game while her sister Jody averages 14.8 points a game. Jody averages a double-double this season, grabbing 10.9 rebounds per game as well. Kat Kundmueller is one of the top point guards in the nations, averaging 7.2 assists per game.
The Wildcats are shooting .440 percent from the field, .299 percent from the three-point line and .741 percent from the charity stripe.
Tuesday's games will not be broadcast on KSTV 93.1 FM tomorrow night, but instead it will be aired on 89.7 FM. The TexAnn pregame show is set to begin at approximately 5:15 p.m.
