SAN ANGELO – The Tarleton TexAnn softball team will open the Lone Star Conference South Division schedule this weekend with a three-game series at No. 2 Angelo State. The two teams will play a single game at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 12 before playing a doubleheader on Saturday, March 13 beginning at 1 p.m.
The TexAnns enter the weekend 9-8 overall and are led at the plate by
Julie Norris with a .357 batting average and 20 hits.

Morgan Collier (.308) are all hitting above the .300-mark. Wessels leads the team with 10 runs scored while Kelly and
Brittany Terry (.268) each have 10 runs batted in to lead the squad. Wessels also leads the team with 17-of-18 stolen bases. The TexAnns are hitting .294 as a squad and opponents have a 3.39 earned run average.
Norris leads the team in the circle as well. She has a 2.39 ERA and is 5-5 with 67.2 innings of work. She has allowed 14 walks and has struck out 51 with opponents hitting .218 off of the senior.
Katie Smith is second with a 3.13 ERA and a 4-3 record. She has pitched in 46.0 innings and has eight walks with 28 strikeouts. As a team, the pitching staff has a 2.69 ERA and opponents are hitting .241 against Tarleton.
Angelo State is 21-2 overall and has won its last 10 games. The Rambelles are led by Sarah DeMoss with a .447 batting average, 34 hits and 28 runs scored. Kacyee Taylor (.439) and Alix Dean (.435) are all hitting above the .400-mark at the plate. Dean has 11 doubles and is second with 30 hits. DeMoss is 20-of-20 in stolen bases while Nicole Smith (.328) is 20-of-25. The Rambelles are hitting .349 while opponents have an ERA of 5.76.
Chelsea Nelson leads the team in the circle with a 1.30 ERA. She is 10-1 with 75.2 innings of action with 19 walks and 65 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .194 off Nelson. April Haywood is 8-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 49.1 innings of work. She has 24 walks and 35 strikeouts. As a team, ASU has a 2.27 ERA and opponents are hitting .216 off the second-ranked team in the country.
