STEPHENVILLE – Zane Hensley plated in the winning run in game two with a walk-off single to give Tarleton a 4-3 win and split Sunday's games with West Texas A&M at Cecil Ballow Baseball Complex in Stephenville. The Texans dropped Sunday's first game to the Buffs, 8-1.

The Texans head into tomorrow's non-conference game with Texas Wesleyan 13-15 overall and 10-14 in Lone Star Conference games. The Buffs are now 8-12 overall and 4-12 in LSC action following this weekend's split series with Tarleton.

WT's Adam DeLaGarza got the Buffs going in game one with a home run to deep right field and WT never looked back. The Buffs then added another run on a bases loaded walk to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Buffs added three runs in the third and another run in the fourth inning to take a 6-0 lead before Tarleton put its first run on the board in the fifth inning. Landan McCall walked and later scored on Junnior Dishmey's groundout to the short stop, but it proved to be Tarleton's only run on the day as WT added another two runs in the top of the seventh and took game one be the final of 8-1.

Jake Sowell (2-2) was saddled with the loss despite working the complete game. He allowed all eight runs (six earned) on 14 hits while walking two and striking out one. WT's Jonathan Perez (2-0) picked up the win for the Buffs going 6.0 innings and allowing the one run on five hits and striking out three.

WT took an early 2-0 lead in game two as well, scoring a pair of runs on RBI-singles from Rob Mann and Elliott Burrow in the top of the third inning. Tarleton countered with a pair of runs  in the fourth when Andy Wolfe scored on a wild pitch and McCall walked in a run that scored Nathan Hillie on the play.

WT then took a 3-2 lead in the fifth with a RBI-sacrifice fly from Burrow. Tarleton then tied it up in the bottom of the eighth when Wolfe singled and later scored on Dishmey's RBI-single to right field.

The game went into extra innings and neither team took advantage of getting runners on the base paths in both halves of the 10th inning. Tim Rainey then led off the Tarleton half of the 11th inning with a double to left field and then following a couple of walks to load the bases, Hensley stepped into the batter's box in a pinch-hitting situation and delivered the game winning hit.

Nathan Lewis (2-3) picked up the win in a relief effort for the Texans, while WT's Heider (0-1) was saddled with the loss – also after coming into the game in a relief effort.

The Texans return to the Diamond tomorrow against the visiting Rams. One nine-inning game is scheduled with a first pitch set for 4 p.m.
