TexAnns to play four in Oklahoma this weekend

WEATHERFORD and LAWTON, Okla. – The Tarleton TexAnn softball team will travel to two Lone Star Conference crossover doubleheaders this week in Oklahoma.  Tarleton will play Southwestern Oklahoma in Weatherford, Okla. on Saturday, March 6 at 1 p.m. before traveling to Lawton, Okla. for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday, March 7 at Cameron.

Tarleton is coming off a split with Incarnate Word on Tuesday, and Tarleton has won four of its last five contests.

The TexAnns are 9-6 and are led by Julie Norris at the plate with a .380 batting average.  She has 19 hits and nine runs scored with eight runs batted in and two home runs.  She has a .520 slugging percentage as well.  Tami Sutton (.360), Morgan Collier, Rebecca Wessels (.326), April Gonzalez (.324) and Arianna Rodriguez (.304) are all batting above the .300-mark.  Wessels also has nine runs scored as well and is 14-of-15 in stolen bases.  Tarleton is hitting .303 as a team while opponents have an earned run average of 3.82.

Tarleton is led in the circle by Norris with a 2.52 ERA and a 5-4 record.  She has pitched 60.2 innings and walked 13 with 44 strikeouts and a .220 opponents' batting average.  Katie Smith has won her last four contests and is 4-2 on the year.  She has a 3.15 ERA and has pitched 40.0 innings and walked seven while striking out 23.  Tarleton has a combined ERA of 2.77 while opponents are hitting .236 against Tarleton.

Southwestern Oklahoma is 9-3 this season after going 2-3 at a tournament in Hot Springs, Ark. last weekend. 

The Bulldogs are led by Fallon Bradshaw with a .600 batting average while Tori Joyner is hitting .537.  Three other SWOSU players are hitting above .400 while six other Bulldogs are hitting between the .300 and .400-marks.  Stacey Creger leads the team with 18 runs batted in while Joyner leads the squad with 22 hits and 19 RBI.  Creger also tops the squad with five home runs.  SWOSU is hitting .424 as a team to an opponents' ERA of 8.30.

SWOSU has a combined ERA of 2.21 to an opponents' batting average of .231.  The Bulldogs are led by Jenna Lilley with a 1.24 ERA.  She has pitched 17.0 innings and has given up six walks with nine strikeouts.  She is 2-0.  Kristina Davis has a 2.05 ERA and is 4-1 in 27.1 innings.  She has threw 15 strikeouts and 12 walks.  Cassie Chambless has a 2.93 ERA and is 3-2.  She has thrown in 28.2 innings and has seven walks and 26 strikeouts.

The Cameron doubleheader was postponed from earlier in the season when winter weather forced a delay in the matchup.  The Aggies are 8-6 this season and have yet to play at home and are coming of a 1-2 weekend at No. 22 West Texas A&M. 

Tarleton defeated Cameron in the season opening weekend tournament in San Antonio, 4-1. 

Drew Wright leads the squad batting .408 this season with 20 hits and 13 runs scored.  Four other Aggies are hitting above the .300-mark this season as the squad is hitting .287 as a team.  Leslie Martini (.372) leads the team with 12 RBI.  Opponents have a combined ERA of 3.20.

Carrie Harvey leads the Aggies in the circle with a 3.57 ERA.  She is 4-3 and has pitched in 47.0 innings and allowed 15 walks while striking out 42 batters to an opponents' batting average of .246.  Ashton McBride has a 4-3 record as well and a 4.75 ERA.  She has pitched 38.1 innings with 19 walks and 18 strikeouts.  Opponents are hitting .268 to a combined CU ERA of 4.40.
