NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Tarleton Texans will play NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision member Northwestern State on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. in Natchitoches, La.

LOOKING FOR A WIN The Tarleton Texans are still looking for their first win of the young season after dropping the first two games of the season.  The Texans will travel to Northwestern State (La.) to play a 6 p.m. kickoff at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision school on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Turpin Stadium. PREVIOUS MEETINGS The two teams have met on two previous occasions, with Northwestern State winning both games.  In 1962, the Demons won 31-6 in Stephenville.  After a 37-year hiatus, the two teams played again, and the Demons downed Tarleton 52-6 in Natchitoches, La.     A LOOK AT THE RANKINGS  Tarleton is ranked not ranked in either the American Football Coaches Association poll nor the D2Football.com poll.  Tarleton was picked No. 18 in the D2Football.com preseason poll, No. 15 in the Sporting News Division II preseason poll and No. 8 in the Lindy's Division II Preseason Poll.     Northwestern State is also not ranked in a poll either. PLAYING UP A LEVEL The Texans have played up to the next level nine times since 1994, and Tarleton is 2-2 in the last four contests. The last time the Texans played a FCS school, Tarleton defeated Stephen F. Austin on the road in overtime in 2007, 27-24.  Tarleton is 4-5 since 1994 against the FCS schools.
