Kiara Wright made her presence felt on the floor of Wisdom Gym Monday night, as the sophomore post recorded her fifth career double-double in the TexAnns' 60-55 victory over the reigning Lone Star Conference Tournament champion Texas Woman's Pioneers.
Texas Woman's (7-3, 3-3) entered the game looking for its first win in Stephenville since Jan. 2, 1998, but Wright's career-high 23 points and 12 rebounds, along with
Shelby Adamson's season-high 22 points for the TexAnns (6-5, 4-0).
This win was also the fourth straight for the TexAnns and pushed Tarleton to a winning record for the first time this season.

After the teams stayed tight with a 10-10 start,
Shelby Adamson drained a 3-ball and a layup to give Tarleton a five-point lead with 12:04 left in the first half.
The TexAnns extended their lead to six at 23-17 before an 11-5 run by Tarleton sent the TexAnns into the break with a 34-21 lead.
Tarleton opened the second half with an 8-2 run to extend its lead to 19. Wright scored five of the first eight with
Peyton Adamson knocking down a 3-ball on an assist by
Lisa Parker.
Texas Woman's then refused to go away, as the Pioneers answered with a 17-3 run to cut the Tarleton lead to 45-40 with 12:41 left.
Wright and Adamson scored Tarleton's next eight points, as an 8-2 push gave Tarleton a 53-42 lead with 8:56 left.
With TWU clawing back into the game, trailing by four with just over four minutes left, Pioneer coach Beth Jillson was called for a technical foul from the bench to give Tarleton a pair of free throws and possession.
Peyton Adamson drained both free throws to give Tarleton a six-point led and Texas Woman's never came closer than five.
Texas Woman's outshot Tarleton 57 percent to 24 percent in the second half.
In addition to Wright and Shelby, Peyton was the next highest scorer with six while Parker added three and
Morgan Stehling,
Brianna Bledsoe and
Shanae Lowrance each had a pair.
Jessica Hanna and Cambria Smith were the top scorers for TWU with 13 each.
Tarleton will take some time away to celebrate the holiday season and return to the hardwood Dec. 30 for a 6 p.m. battle with Division II's newest member McMurry.
