STEPHENVILLE - In the midst of a 16-day break between conference games, the Tarleton basketball teams have returned to the hardwood from Christmas break and will host a New Year's Eve Dollar-Day Doubleheader against McMurry and Dallas Christian beginning at 12 p.m. Saturday.
Admission to the games and all concessions will be just $1.
The first game of the afternoon is the TexAnns (6-5, 4-0) against Division III power McMurry (8-1, 7-0) at noon.
The Warhawks enter Saturday's game having lost just one game this season - an 11-point loss to Division I UT-Arlington - and currently riding a seven-game win streak.
The TexAnns counter by having won their last four, including a 60-55 win over the reigning Lone Star Conference Tournament Champion Texas Woman's in Stephenville.
McMurry is led in scoring by Keshia Collins, a 5-10 sophomore from Midland, who is averaging 16.4 points per game and has led the Warhawks in scoring in six of their nine games this season.
Rekeita Thomas is also averaging double figures (11.0 ppg) this season.
The Warhawks are in their final season of Division III play, as they will be joining Division II next season as a part of the Heartland Conference.
Immediately following the TexAnn game, the team will be int he lobby of Wisdom Gym to sign autographs during the warmup of the men's game.
The No. 12 Texans will follow the TexAnns by hosting Dallas Christian College (4-15).
DCC has struggled through a tough NAIA schedule, including losses to Rogers State and Southern Nazarene from the Sooner Athletic Conference, but has managed a 92-84 over another Tarleton opponent, Arlington Baptist.
When the Crusaders have managed victories this season, it has been because of the strong play of Malcom McCarty and Isaac Gonzalez, who are averaging 19.3 and 16.0 points per game in their four wins.
