STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton has, arguably, its biggest game of the young season slated for Saturday night at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville when the TexAnns (4-5, 2-0) host Incarnate Word (6-1, 2-1) at 5 p.m.
The Cardinals enter the contest having only dropped one game on the season, a 10-point loss to West Texas A&M in the Lone Star Conference opener, while Tarleton has won its last two.
With a win, the TexAnns will even their season record for the second time since the season started. They have not had a winning record at any point, yet, this season.
UIW head coach Angela Lawson brings a young Cardinal team to Stephenville, led by a 5-11 senior from Austin averaging 10.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, Chloe Wallace.
Wallace posted a double-double against Eastern New Mexico earlier this season with 16 points and 12 boards.
Outside of Wallace, the Cardinals aren't struggling to find points.
UIW has four more players - in addition to Wallace - averaging double figures, led by the team's top scorer, Katy Cooke, with 13.3 per game.
Incarnate Word leads the Lone Star conference in shooting percentage - both from the floor (.456) and from 3-point land (.389) while also leading the conference in shooting defense in both categories.
Tarleton, despite struggling early this season with tough in-region opponents, has battled back to open LSC play with a 2-0 mark, including an 11-point win over, then 2-1, Cameron.
Since conference play began, Tarleton is second in scoring with 75.5. points per game while holding opponents to 62 per contest.
