STEPHENVILLE - The Tarleton baseball team will finish up their first homestand of the season with a game against Texas Wesleyan on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. at the Cecil Ballow Baseball Complex.
The Texans are coming off a double header sweep and a series win over No. 16 Incarnate Word this past weekend. Tarleton is 6-2 overall on the year, and 4-2 in the Lone Star Conference.
As a team, the Texans are hitting .295, with a .437 slugging percentage and a .401 on-base percentage.
Mark Jeffery is leading the way with a .467 avearge and a .667 on-base percentage.
Travis Hayes follows up with a .444 average, while three other Texans are hitting above .333.
Casazza has eight RBI's on the season, including the walk-off, game-winner in game two of the UIW series.
Andrew Kapple is second with six RBI's, with
Ethan Stuckly and
Reagan Janda both adding five RBI's.
Tarleton also has a .966 fielding percentage, compared to opponents' .938 fielding percentage.
The pitching staff for the Texans has a combined ERA of 5.43, while opponents have a 5.75 ERA against Tarleton.
Miguel Ramirez and
Ryan Turner are both 2-0 on the year, while Turner also has two saves. They also lead the team with 13 and 14 strike outs respectively. Ramirez has Tarleton's only complete game of the season as well.
The Rams are 5-5 overall this season and 3-3 in conference play. Texas Wesleyan is led offensively by Vincent Winter, who is hitting a .412 average, and Joseph Lassiter, who has driven in eight RBI's with a .325 average. As a team, the Rams are hitting a .266 average and have struck out 60 times in 2011. The pitching staff on the other hand has been excellent, combining for a 2.69 ERA over 80.1 innings. Derek Vaughn has two wins for the Rams and leads the way with a a 0.45 ERA.
First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Cecil Ballow Baseball Complex.
