The Tarleton Texans will return to LSC South Division action on the road at No. 21 Incarnate Word. Tip-off in San Antonio is set for 7:30 p.m. in the McDermott Center on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

FINISHING STRONG
The Texans have finished strong in the second half of the LSC division play since the 2001-02 season. Tarleton is 41-13 in that span in the second half of division play, including a 9-3 record in the last two seasons. Tarleton has went 6-0 in 2002-03 and 5-1 five different times.
DEFENSE, DEFENSE
The Tarleton defense is ranked No. 1 in the nation scoring defense, allowing opponents to score an average of 51.8 points per game heading into this week. Tarleton is No. 3 in the nation in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 37.1 percent from the field.
Thanks to the defense, Tarleton has the No. 4 scoring margin in the country with a plus-21.7 margin.
FORCING TURNOVERS
Tarleton is forcing lots of turnovers this season, but giving away less. The Texans are No. 3 in the nation in turnover margin with a 6.5 margin in favor of the purple and white.
Part of turnovers is taking the ball away, and the Texans are No. 30 in the country in doing so, averaging 9.1 steals per game.
REBOUND THAT BALL
Heading into this week, the Texans are No. 15 in the nation in rebound margin (7.5). The Texans have outrebounded every foe this season except Cameron, Texas A&M-Commerce, Abilene Christian and West Texas A&M.
Tarleton is outrebounding opponents by an average of 37.1 to 29.6.

Corin Henry leads the team with 13.1 points per outing and is the only Texan in double figures.

The Texans are led by

Dipprey leads the team with 7.0 boards per game during South Division play as Tarleton is outrebounding foes 34.0 to 29.0 and outscoring them 64.1 to 51.9. Tarleton is averaging .452 from the floor, .377 from the arc and .683 from the charity stripe while holding opponents to .371, .326 and .652, respectively.

The Texans are outscoring foes 73.5 to 51.8. The Texans' biggest win of the season came against Arlington Baptist – 108-30 (78 points). The smallest margin of victory is four at home against Texas A&M-Commerce (70-66).

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
No. 21 Incarnate Word is 15-4 overall and 4-3 in the LSC South Division after dropping the last two games, including an 80-71 loss at Angelo State and an 84-62 loss at Eastern New Mexico. The Cardinals were No. 9 on Jan. 19 when the Texans downed the visitors to Wisdom Gym, 69-66.
The Cardinals then defeated Midwestern State in double overtime (90-83) in San Antonio and a 56-52 win at home over Abilene Christian.
Tracy Robinson leads the team with 16.7 points per game while Eric Stewart (11.2), Kecley Solomon (11.2), Chris Johnson (11.2) and Shaun Umeh (10.6) are all averaging in double figures. Robinson leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per game while Johnson is second with 6.7 boards per outing.
UIW is averaging .465 from the field, .265 from the arc and .686 from the line while opponents are shooting .445 from the floor, .309 from the arc and .688 from the stripe. The Cardinals are outscoring opponents 75.4 to 68.7, but they are being outrebounded 36.2 to 34.3.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Incarnate Word leads the all-time series that began in 1984, 8-6. Tarleton claimed the 69-66 win on Jan. 19 in Stephenville to win their third straight over the Cardinals. This will be the first visit by the Texans to San Antoinio since a 62-43 win on Nov. 26, 2002.

Tarleton outrebounded the visitors 37-34 and outscored them from the bench, 27-14.
