Softball to play two at OPSU Tuesday

GOODWELL, Okla. – The Tarleton TexAnn softball team will return to the diamond Tuesday, March 1 when they play an in-region doubleheader at Panhandle State.  The games in Goodwell, Okla. are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

The TexAnns are 8-5-1 overall and went 2-2 at the Southern Arkansas Tournament in Magnolia, Ark. last weekend.

Rebecca Wessels has a .386 batting average to lead the TexAnns along with a team-high 14 runs scroed, 17 hits and seven stolen bases.  Samantha Swanda (.271) leads the team with 11 runs batted in.  The TexAnns are averaging .266 as a squad at the plate as opponents have a combined earned run average of 2.67.

Swanda leads the team in the circle with a 1.74 ERA and a 5-2 record.  She has pitched in 52.1 innings had has allowed just nine walks while striking out 51 batters.  Katie Smith is second with a 2.15 ERA and a 3-2 record.  She has seen action in 29.1 innings and has 12 walks and 21 strikeouts.  The team has a combined ERA of 2.11 as opponents are hitting .221.

OPSU is 1-15 overall with its lone victory coming the University of the Southwest (8-4).

The only stats available for the Lady Aggies were dated through Feb. 13 when the club was 1-9.

The team was hitting .283 while opponents had a team ERA of 2.89 while OPSU had a team ERA of 7.19 as the foes are hitting a combined .357.
