TexAnns fall in game one to TWU

STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton TexAnn softball team lost a pitcher's duel on Friday to Texas Woman's (2-0) in the Lone Star Conference South Division opener by both teams.

Jordan Readicker homered in the top of the second to leadoff the inning while her team dded one more run on a hit and an error in the top of the third, but that would be the only scoring in the game by either team.

The TexAnns had runners on the bases in five of the seven innings while recording five hits in the game, but Tarleton couldn't get the runners around the bases to score.

Tarleton's Samantha Swanda pitched the complete game and allowed five hits with two runs (one earned).  She allowed four walks while striking out seven opponents.

Kayla Williams of TWU went all seven and gave up four hits and four walks while striking out eight TexAnns.

The two teams will return to action in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 12 at noon at the Tarleton Softball Complex.
