SAN ANGELO - The Tarleton baseball team defeated Angelo State Friday evening in San Angelo, thanks to 14 errors commited by the host Rams.

The Texans scored at least one run in six of the seven innings in the game, including four runs in the second and fifth and six runs in the seventh.

Taking advantage of the Rams' struggling defense, Tarleton recorded 14 hits and 14 RBI's in the game. 

The Texans had seven different players with mulit-hit games, led by first baseman Zane Hensley's 3-for-5 outing and two RBI's.  Rightfielder Chris Casazza and Travis Hayes both homered for Tarleton, and posted two-hit games and two runs scored.

Centerfielder Tim Rainey had his most productive game of the year, driving in four runs and scoring three times, while going 2-for-3 from the plate.

Reliever Jake Sowell (1-0) picked up the win for the Texans after going 3 2/3 innings with just one run allowed on three hits.

ASU had a historically bad day in the field with 14 errors, including nine by just two players

The Rams' Bryant Rutledge (4-3) was bombarded for six runs, four earned, on six hits in just two innings on the mound and took the loss for ASU.

Tarleton and Angelo State play two more on Saturday, with game one of the doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. in San Angelo.
