Nacogdoches - The No. 19 Tarleton women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Stephen F. Austin Sunday evening.

The TexAnns were able to get two of the three doubles victories, but were just out-matched in singles play, only picking up one win there.

Tarleton's pairing of Alicia Perez and Adrianna Jaskova defeated SFA's Paolo Montuenga and Alina Shazhko 9-8 (4) in the first match of the day.  Mariana Freitas and Melanie Barnes followed that up with an 8-3 win over Andreea Enica and Meaghan Ocanas in No. 2 doubles.

The TexAnns could not keep the momentum going in singles action though, with Melanie Barnes earning Tarleton's lone singles victory with a 6-1, 7-5 decision over Alice Pacaut.

With a big week coming up, the TexAnns have little time to rest.  Tarleton hosts No. 18 Cameron on Tuesday, March 29 and Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday, April 2.
