SAN ANGELO – The Tarleton TexAnn softball team will play five games in the 2011 Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament in San Angelo this weekend.
Tarleton will face East Central at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 1 before playing Northeastern State at 3 p.m. on Friday. The TexAnns will then tussle with Central Oklahoma at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 and Southwestern Oklahoma at 4:30 p.m. prior to playing No. 3 Midwestern State at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 3.

Tarleton has been idle since last weekend when the TexAnns took one game in a three-game series with then-No. 1 Angelo State. The TexAnns had a chance to take all three games, but the Rambelles had two big seven innings that proved costly for the purple and white as ASU took the lead in the top of the final frame and did not relinquish it in the first two games of the series.
Tarleton is led by Rebecca Wessels at the plate with a .389 batting average, 27 runs scored, 35 hits, two triples and 17-of-20 stolen bases. Samantha Swanda (.302) leads the team with 27 runs batted in, seven home runs and a .583 slugging percentage. Arianna Rodriguez (.298) tops the squad with nine doubles, and she is second on the team with 23 RBI and five home runs. The TexAnns are hitting .290 as a team and opponents have a combined earned run average of 3.47.
In the circle, Randi Fentress (2-2) has a 2.24 ERA in 40.2 innings of work with 20 walks and 30 strikeouts while Swanda (8-8) has a 2.53 ERA. She has pitched in 105.0 innings and has recorded 39 walks and 109 strikeouts. Katie Smith (6-2) has pitched in 54.1 innings of action and has a 2.71 ERA, 18 walks and 30 strikeouts. As a team, the TexAnns have a 2.53 ERA and opponents are hitting a combined .248.
East Central is 19-8 overall and is coming off a two-game sweep of St. Edward's on Monday.
The Tigers are led by Emily Kennemer wth a .440 batting average, 37 hits, 13 doubles, five home runs and 26 RBI. Cami Correa (.384) and Shelby Simmons (.351) are the other two players hitting above the .300-mark as the team is hitting a combined .296 and opponents have a combined ERA of 4.01.
Wanda Malone leads the team with a 1.68 ERA and an 11-4 record in 95.2 innings. She has 31 walks and 103 strikeouts. Randee Crockett (6-4) has a 2.92 ERA in 64.2 innings and has 14 walks and 62 strikeouts. The Tigers have combined ERA of 1.98 and as opponents are hitting .187.
Northeastern State is 10-17 overall and went 1-2 against Southwestern Oklahoma last weekend in division play.
The RiverHawks are led by Cayce Coleman with a .324 batting average and 13 RBI while Rachel Turner (.250) leads the team with 13 hits. The team is hitting .256 and opponents have a combined ERA of 2.99.
The pitching staff is led by Coleman (5-7) with a 2.91 ERA in 86.2 innings with 26 walks and 73 strikeouts. Sarah Massey (4-4) has a 4.71 ERA in 55.0 innings with 28 walks and 26 strikeouts. As a team, NSU has a combined ERA of 4.14 and opponents are hitting .296.
Central Oklahoma is 15-14 overall and are coming off a three-game series at Southeastern Oklahoma where the Bronchos took two games from the Savage Storm.
Kaycee Raines has a .341 batting average, 19 runs scored, 30 hits and 10 walks to lead the team at the plate while Kacie Edwards (.338) is tops with 10 doubles and 23 RBI. The Bronchos are hitting .272 as a squad and opponents have a combined ERA of 4.45.
UCO is led by Rachel Steverson (5-7) with a 3.21 ERA in 87.1 innings of work. She has recorded 36 walks and 76 strikeouts. Amanda McClelland (10-7) has a 4.19 ERA in 95.1 innings of action with 55 walks and 100 strikeouts. The team has a combined ERA of 3.77 and opponents are hitting .281.
The Lady Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State are 12-9 this season and led by Sara Harwell with a .377 batting average. She also tops the squad with 17 runs scored, seven home runs and 14 RBI. Opponents have a combined ERA of 3.06 while SWOSU is hitting .277 as a team.
Katie Raines (6-5) leads SWOSU with a 2.55 ERA in 79.2 innings. She has recorded 22 walks and 37 strikeouts while Cassie Chambless (6-4) has 15 walks and 41 strikeouts in 59.2 innings of action. She has a 3.64 ERA as the duo have a combined ERA of 3.01 while opponents are hitting .285.
No. 3 Midwestern State is 30-3 on the season heading into the Crossover.
Elena Bennet leads the team with a .495 batting average, 35 runs scored, 55 hits and is 26-of-27 in stolen bases. Mallory Mooney (.333) and Alyson Reynolds (.333) are the other two batters above the .300-mark while Mooney leads the team with 32 RBI, six home runs and eight doubles. The Mustangs are hitting .356 as a team while opponents have a combined ERA of 6.40.
MSU's Brittney Tanner has a 1.07 ERA and is 182 in 124.2 innings of work. She has recorded 178 strikeouts and allowed just 19 walks while teammate Kristina Gutierrez (12-1) has allowed 11 walks while striking out 135. She has a 1.33 ERA in 89.1 innings of action. The duo combine for an ERA of 1.18, and opponents are hitting .169 against the Mustangs.
