STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton TexAnn softball team will return to action at home in a non-conference doubleheader against St. Mary's on Tuesday, April 12 at 2 p.m.

The TexAnns are 17-19-1 overall after dropping three games at Incarnate Word last weekend.

Rebecca Wessels leads the team at the plate with a .360 batting average, 41 hits, 29 runs scored, two triples and 20-25 in stolen bases. Victoria Kelly (.333) is second on the team in hitting while Samantha Swanda (.286) leads the squad with 30 runs batted in. Tarleton is hitting .275 as a squad while opponents have an earned run average of 2.97.

In the circle, Swanda tops the squad with a 2.49 ERA and is 9-10 on the season. She has pitched in 126.1 innings and has allowed 46 walks while striking out 126 batters. Katie Smith (6-5) has a 2.55 ERA in 74.0 innings of work with 39 strikeouts and 19 walks. Randi Fentress (2-4) has a 2.59 ERA in 51.1 innings of action with 21 walks and 37 strikeouts. The team has a combined ERA of 2.54 while opponents are hitting .249 against the TexAnns.

Tarleton took two games earlier this season in San Antonio from St. Mary's. The TexAnns won 5-3 in the first game between the two teams before taking an 8-0 victory in six innings.

The Lady Rattlers are 29-15 overall this season and have won eight of their last nine games.

Shelly Lee leads the team with a .371 batting average while Jared Gonzalez (.360) tops the squad with 33 RBI. Chelsea Wenske (.351) leads SMU with 47 hits, 12 doubles and 36 runs scored. The Lady Rattlers are hitting .296 as a team while opponents have a combined ERA of 4.47.

Emily Brittain (18-7) leads the team in the circle with a 1.49 ERA in 145.1 innings of action. She has 28 walks and 110 strikeouts. Marciela Bissaro (7-4) has a 2.22 ERA in 72.2 innings with 37 walks and 36 strikeouts. The team has a combined ERA of 2.21 while opponents are hitting .239 off the Lady Rattlers.
