PORTALES, N.M. – The Tarleton TexAnns will play an important Lone Star Conference South Division series at Eastern New Mexico this weekend. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday, April 15 beginning at 2 p.m. in Portales, N.M. before playing the final game of the series at noon on Saturday, April 16.

The Tarleton TexAnns are 17-21-1 overall after dropping two games to St. Mary's at home on Tuesday. Tarleton is 5-7 in South Division play and is in sixth place in the standings.

Rebecca Wessels leads the team with a .364 batting average, 31 runs scored, 43 hits, two triples and is 22-of-27 in stolen bases. Victoria Kelly (.339) is second in hitting while Samantha Swanda (.286) leads the squad with 10 home runs and 31 runs batted in. Arianna Rodriguez (.282) tops the team with 10 doubles. The TexAnns are hitting .277 as a team as opponents have an earned run average of 3.02.

In the circle, Randi Fentress tops the squad with a 2.53 ERA in 55.1 innings of action. She is 2-4 and has 24 walks and 40 strikeouts. Katie Smith (6-6) has a 2.58 ERA in 78.2 innings of work with 40 strikeouts and 19 walks while Swanda (9-11) has a 2.70 ERA in 129.2 innings of action with 51 walks and 129 strikeouts. The team has a combined ERA of 2.63 while opponents are hitting .252.

ENMU is 11-32 overall and 2-10 in the LSC South Division in eighth place.

The Zias are led by Taylor Howard at the plate with a .354 batting average, 45 hits, eight home runs and 35 RBI. Paige Colburn (.343) is second on the team in hitting and has a team-high four triples while Tessa Fioritti (.256) tops the squad with nine doubles. Melanie Alderette (.294) is 24-of-7 in stolen bases for the Zias who are hitting .268 as a squad. Opponents have a combined ERA of 3.63.

Erin Roufosse (6-24) is the leading pitcher for the Zias with a 5.72 ERA in 145.2 innings. She has recorded 55 walks and 97 strikeouts. Brittany Widner (5-7) has a 9.40 ERA in 73.0 innings with 83 walks and 23 strikeouts. The team has a combined ERA of 7.47 while opponents are hitting .364 off the Zias' pitching staff.
