ABILENE - The No. 33 Tarleton women's tennis team won their first round match up with Southwest Baptist in Abilene Sunday, advancing to the second round of the South Central region tournament.
The TexAnns picked up a 5-3 win over Southwest Baptist, their second win over the Bearcats this season.

Adriana Jaskova won their doubles matches to give Tarleton an early advantage in the day.
Heading into singles play, the TexAnns needed just three wins out of the six matches to secure a meeting with the hosts and No. 1 seed Abilene Christian on Monday.
Tarleton was able to do just that picking up wins in No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles. Jaskova defeated SBU's Adrienn Kovacs 6-0, 6-3 to start things off. Frietas overcame SBU's Faiga Schmidt 7-6 (4-3), 6-1, before
Silvia Nieva wrapped up the victory with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 win over SBU's Jenna Hendrickson.
The TexAnns will now face ACU Monday at 11:30 a.m. in Abilene with the winner advancing to the final 16-team tournament in Florida.
