STEPHENVILLE -  Head coach Lonn Reisman goes for win No. 500 at Tarleton when he hosts Texas A&M-Commerce for the second game of the rivalry week series.  Tarleton trails in the all-time series 24-28, but has won the last three meetings between the two squads.

GAMETIME
Tip-off is at 7 p.m. for the men's game and 5 p.m. for the women's game in Wisdom Gym.

LAST WEEK
The Texans (16-1) defeated Commerce on their own turf earlier this week with a 73-69 decision on Wednesday night.  Tarleton had a 14-point lead with under four minutes to go in the game, but the Lions roared back and made it a close game.  Fortunately for the Texans, Fabian Wilson's career-high 27 points was too much for Commerce to overcome.

THIS YEAR
On the season, Tarleton is shooting 48.3 percent from the floor, 32.5 percent from three-point land and 69.5 percent from the charity stripe.  The Texans are averaging 70.4 points per game and 36.1 rebounds per game.

HOLDING OFF OPPONENTS
Opponent's are shooting just 35.6 percent overall and averaging 52.9 points per game against the Texans.  Tarleton is No. 1 in the nation in points allowed and field goal percentage allowed.

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Chris Harrell is Tarleton's leading scorer with 12.9 points per game while Fabian Wilson is adding 11.4 points and 7.0 rebounds each contest.  Shedrick Haynes is the main fascilitator with 60 assists on the year to go with his 10.2 points per game.  Brian Word is among the team leaders in most major categories, including steals, assists and rebounds, and is the reigning LSC Defensive Player of the Week.

SIZING UP THE OPPONENT
The Lions fought valiantly against the Texan attack on Wednesday, but came up short in a 73-69 loss.  Commerce has only one conference win on the season and has yet to win a road game in the LSC.
TAMUC will be looking for revenge on Saturday night against a Texan team they have not beaten since 2008.

STOPPING THE LIONS
Overall, the Lions are averaging 71.0 points per game and giving up a league-high 76.9 points to opponents.  As a team, TAMUC is shooting 45.3 percent from the floor and 35.8 percent from three-point range.  They rank towards the bottom of the conference in most of the major statistical categories, including last in scoring defense and scoring margin (-5.9).

WHO TO LOOK FOR
The Lions are led offensively by Desmond King, the Lone Star Conference Preseason Player of the Year.  King is averaging 16.1 points per game, which is good for No. 3 in the LSC.  Brad Hambrick and Preston Whitley are also averaging double figure points while LaBree Sledge is second in the league in assists with 78 total.

AMONG THE BEST
The Texans are ranked near the top of almost every statistical category in the conference.
Tarleton is No. 1 in scoring defense (52.9 ppg) and No. 1 in scoring margin (+17.4).  The Texans are also No. 1 in field goal defense (.356), No. 2 in rebounding defense (29.8) and No. 3 in rebounding margin (+6.2).
Individually, Chris Harrell is No. 9 in scoring (12.9 ppg), while Fabian Wilson is No. 3 in rebounding (7.0) and No. 4 in blocks (0.9).  Shedrick Haynes is No. 3 in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3) as well as No. 3 in assists (3.5).  Harrell and Coleman Furst are in the top five in free throw percentage.

NO. 1 DEFENSE
Tarleton finished the 2010-11 season as the No. 1 defense in the nation.  That was not only at the Division II level, but also in Division I, III and Junior College ranks.          This year's team has big shoes to fill, but has held opponents in check thus far as opposing offenses have averaged just 52.9 points per game.  That is good enough for No. 1 in the nation again at the DII level.

REMAINING IN THE RANKINGS
Tarleton was ranked No. 8 in the NABC/NCAA Division II Preseason Polls and No. 1 in the Lone Star Conference Preseason poll.
The Texans are now No. 5 in the nation and have a solid hold on No. 1 in the LSC standings.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The Texans head into the second half of the conference season where they will take on Cameron in Lawton, Okla. on Wednesday and host Midwestern State on Saturday.

REISMAN'S QUEST FOR 500
