Box Score SAN ANTONIO – Tarleton fell to 2-2 on the young season Wednesday following a 77-56 loss to the St. Mary's Rattlers (5-2) at the Bill Greehey Arena Wednesday night.
With this loss, Tarleton is now 3-10 all-time against the Rattlers – who got their first win in the series since 2008.
The TexAnns kept the game within reach early despite a difficult start on the offensive side of things.
Over the first 10 minutes of the first half, Tarleton committed 10 turnovers – which led to eight St. Mary's points.
After the Rattlers scored the first four points of the game,
Peyton Adamson got the TexAnns on the board with a running jumper in the paint at the 17:08 mark.
Kiara Wright added the next two Tarleton points on free throws to keep the deficit at two with a 6-4 score.
The Rattlers answered with a quick 4-0 push to lead by six at 10-4. Tarleton was able to bring the deficit to three on two different occasions before a 20-7 Rattler run over the next 9:19 put St. Mary's up 32-16.
Over the run, Tarleton went just 3-9 from the floor and 0-6 from the free throw line with five turnovers before Adamson broke up the long Rattler run with a deep 3-ball from the corner.
Tarleton never got closer than 13 points over the rest of the half and went into halftime trailing 36-22.
In the first half, Tarleton shot just 30 percent from the floor (6-20) and 53 percent (8-15) from the free throw line in addition to committing 15 turnovers and being outscored on 18-3 from the bench.
The TexAnns did win the rebounding battle over the first 20 minutes 19-16 with
Kiara Wright grabbing seven. Adamson and Wright led the team in scoring in the first half with seven and six points, respectively.
In the second half, Tarleton battled but were unable to make up any ground.
After trailing by 14 at the break, St. Mary's opened the half with five straight points before
Shanae Lowrance hit a layup at 18:08 for the first TexAnn points of the half.
Tarleton trailed by as many as 24 in the second half and could get no closer than 14 at the 8:28 mark.
The TexAnns failed to shoot over 40 percent for the first time this season and shot a season-low 59 percent from the free throw line (16-27). The 24 turnovers is the most in a game this season and ties the most in game from last season, which happened four times, and led to 21 Rattler points.

Meagan O'Dell scoring her first collegiate point off the bench for Tarleton.
Wright recorded her third double-double of the season and the 16
th of her career after leading the TexAnns with 17 points and 10 boards in 26 minutes. Adamson also cracked double figures with 11.

th career win at Tarleton Saturday when the TexAnns visit Texas Woman's for a 2 p.m. tip-off at Kitty Magee Arena in Denton to open Lone Star Conference action.
