SAN ANTONIO – Tarleton begins its longest road stretch of the season tonight when the TexAnns tip-off against St. Mary's at 6 p.m. in search of its second straight win over a nationally recognized team.
Coming off a 59-57 win against Northeastern State, Tarleton will visit Bill Greehey Arena for a match against the Rattlers who come into the game at 4-2 and among the middle of the pack in the vote-getters for the national top 25 polls.
Tarleton comes into the contest boasting the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week,
Peyton Adamson, who is scoring in bunches this season.
The junior guard from Rockwall is leading the team – and is second in the conference – with 20.3 points per game and has topped the 20-point plateau in two of three games this season. She scored 24 in Saturday's win for the sixth 20-point game of her career.
Meanwhile, the Rattlers come into the contest fresh off a 78-58 win over Harding Saturday. St. Mary's had four double-figure scorers against Harding, with three of them coming off the bench. They are 4-2 this season, after starting 3-0.
Another key storyline for this contest will be sitting on the end seat of the TexAnn bench.
Head coach Ronnie Hearne, who won his 1000
th career game at all coaching levels last season, is now going for win No. 175 at Tarleton. Hearne took over at Tarleton in 2003 and has led the TexAnns into the national spotlight, as well as to their first LSC Championship last year. He needs two more wins to reach the 175 mark.
Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. tonight from Bill Greehey Arena. For a live radio broadcast, tune into KSTV 93.1 FM in Stephenville or Listen Live at TarletonSports.com.
