STEPHENVILLE - Conference action is set to get under way for the Tarleton TexAnns as they travel to Denton Saturday afternoon for their Lone Star Conference opener against Texas Woman's.

This battle pairs together the last two LSC Tournament Champions. The Pioneers won the tournament in 2011 before Tarleton claimed the crown last season.

Tarleton enters the contest at 2-2 on the young season and are looking to rebound from a 77-56 loss at St. Mary's Wednesday night, while the Pioneers are sitting at 2-4 and 0-1 in LSC play after falling 63-52 to Texas A&M-Commerce.

Peyton Adamson, the reigning LSC Offensive Player of the Week, leads the way for the TexAnns after cracking the double figure mark for the fourth straight game Wednesday.

The junior guard is scoring in bunches this season with 18.0 points per game, including two 20-point efforts. She leads the LSC in 3-pointers per game (3.8) and is second in 3-point percentage (.500).

Kiara Wright, following her 17-point 11-rebound effort Wednesday, has three double-doubles in four games this season and 16 for her career. She is averaging a double-double this season with 15.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game this season.

The junior center is also 30 rebounds shy of passing Amanda Franklin for 15th on the all-time TexAnns list.

Texas Woman's, meanwhile, comes into the contest struggling to find offense after losing a pair of all-conference performers from last year's squad.

The Pioneers are 10th in the LSC in scoring (55.2 ppg) while shooting just .367 (7th, LSC) from the floor and a league-worst .174 from beyond the arc. They also enter play having committed the most turnovers in the conference.

Tarleton is 9-9 in LSC openers since joining the NCAA in 1994 and are 6-3 in conference openers under head coach Ronnie Hearne.

Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. from Kitty Magee Arena in Denton. See the above links for live stats, live video and the live audio feed courtesy of KSTV 93.1 FM in Stephenville.
