STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton will take the top two scorers in the Lone Star Conference to Angelo State for the final game of a three-game road trip with a 5:30 p.m. game at the Junell Center Wednesday.
The TexAnns are fresh off their first road win of the season in the LSC opener at Texas Woman's Saturday while Angelo is coming off a double overtime win against West Texas A&M.
Peyton Adamson and Kiara Wright come into Wednesday's affair as the top two scorers in the conference with 17 and 16.8 points per game, respectively.
Wright dominated the Pioneers Saturday, posting 22 points and 17 rebounds her her fourth double-double of the season. She reached a season-high and fell one short of a career high in both categories.
Adamson, meanwhile, has scored double figures in every game this season including a pair of 20-point performances. She recorded 13 in Tarleton's win last Saturday.
The junior guard is one of the top 3-point shooters in the nation this season and the best in the LSC. She is first in the LSC in 3-pointers made (3.8 pg) and fifth in the nation as well as being 5th in the LSC in percentage (.487) and 28th in the nation.
The team leads the conference and is 17th in the nation in 3-point percentage at .400.
Angelo comes in, however, fresh off a double overtime win in which they outscored West Texas A&M 10-4 in the second overtime to improve to 4-3 and 2-0 in the conference.
In five of Angelo's seven games, they have had a player top the 20-point mark including two - Leah LeMaire and Haylee Oliver - who poured in 24 each in their last outing.
In the longest active rivalry in school history, Tarleton leads the all-time series 22-20. The series dates back to 1976.
Tarleton is 8-14 all-time at Angelo and 8-10 overall against the Rambelles under the instruction of Hearne. Tarleton has just two wins in San Angelo since 2000 with the last one coming Feb. 27, 2010.
