STEPHENVILLE - There's going to be a major battle for early season supremacy in the Lone Star Conference Saturday night when the Tarleton TexAnns host Abilene Christian.

There are only three teams left in the LSC without a loss in league play and two of them will take the court in Wisdom Gym Saturday.

Tarleton is coming off an overtime win at Angelo State in which they outscored the Rambelles 14-4 in the extra period en route to earning just their third win in San Angelo since 2000.

Abilene Christian, on the other hand, used a 25-9 run to open their Tuesday night game against Texas A&M-Commerce and cruised to an 81-60 over the Lions.

The TexAnns enter the contest boasting the top two scorers in the Lone Star Conference - Kiara Wright and Peyton Adamson.

Wright, a 6-1 junior out of Pittsburg, is averaging a double-double this season with 16.7 points and 12.7 boards per contest. In addition to leading the LSC in scoring and rebounding, she also leads the conference in defensive rebounding (9.0 rpg) and field goal percentage (.593 on 35-59 shooting).

Adamson averages 16.2 points per game and is first in the conference and fifth in the nation in 3-pointers per game (3.7).

For ACU, the Wildcats have four of the top 15 scorers in the LSC as well as the reigning conference Player of the Year, Mack Lankford.

The TexAnns trail the all-time series against the Wildcats 14-27 - dating back to 1980 - but have won seven straight. Tarleton's win streak began with a 73-59 win in Stephenville on Feb. 18, 2009.

Tarleton is 7-12 against ACU in Stephenville, with the last home loss coming Feb. 20, 2008. Head coach Ronnie Hearne is 10-9 against his alma mater as the coach of Tarleton.

Tip-off for the game is set for 5 p.m. Saturday and the men's game will follow immediately. For links to live stats, live video and audio as well as a link to purchase tickets, check out the links above or the women's basketball schedule on TarletonSports.com.
