Tarleton seniors play final home game, go for outright LSC title Saturday

STEPHENVILLE - Since coming to Tarleton in 2008-09, the TexAnn seniors have made a lot of history.

This class has been a part of the first LSC Championship tournament victory, the first LSC South Division Championship in school history, the first NCAA regional tournament victory as well as a number of personal accolades.

When they take the court at Wisdom Gym Saturday, they will have a chance at one more historical mark in their final home game - an outright Lone Star Conference championship.

Tarleton (19-8, 16-3) has already been guaranteed a share of the tournament crown and the No. 1 seed in the LSC tournament in Allen, but a win would provide sole ownership to the title.

To secure the crown, the TexAnns must overcome an Abilene Christian team fighting for their postseason lives.

The Wildcats come into Saturday's game having won three straight, forcing a win-or-go-home situation while the TexAnns have dropped back-to-back games.

The TexAnns have won six straight over the Wildcats, including a 90-74 in Abilene earlier this season. ACU has not won in Stephenville since Feb. 20, 2008.

This will be the final home game for Tarleton seniors Tara Towns, Lisa Parker, Morgan Stehling and Shelby Adamson, who will be honored during halftime of the men's game.

This group has been the winningest class of TexAnns since Tarleton joined the NCAA in 1994, posting a career record of 83-31 (.789) and a home record of 46-7 (.868).

Tip-off between the TexAnns and Wildcats is set for 5 p.m. For a live radio broadcast, tune into KSTV 93.1 FM in Stephenville or listen live at TarletonSports.com. A live video broadcast is also available at TarletonSports.com through the All-Access package.
