STEPHENVILLE - When Tarleton and Incarnate Word met earlier this season, the TexAnns had battled through a tough pre-conference slate and were below .500 for the first time since 2008 while Incarnate Word looked prime to make some serious noise in the LSC race.
But things quickly turned around for both clubs, starting with an 83-64 TexAnn win over the Cardinals in Stephenville.
Peyton Adamson, a sophomore transfer, made herself known to Tarleton State and the Lone Star Conference by blowing up for 27 points as the TexAnns won their fifth game of the season and handed Incarnate Word - then - just their second loss.
How things have changed, however, for both teams.
Since then, Tarleton has won 11 straight to improve their current winning streak to 14 - the second longest streak in school history behind the 1990-91 team, who won 16 straight - while the Cardinals have lost eight of their 13 games since the loss to Tarleton.
Adamson has not cooled down for Tarleton, posting three 20-point games since her first against UIW. The last one came Wednesday against Texas A&M-Kingsville when she scored 24.
The sophomore has also been named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week twice, including the week of her breakout performance against UIW.
Her older sister, Shelby, continues to dominate the LSC, averaging 14.1 points per game this season.
She recently moved into third place all-time in assists and is 11 points shy of tying assistant Misty Wilson for fifth place in scoring with 1,440.
Kiara Wright, who missed the first game against UIW, has also been dominant since her Dec. 19 return, posting 13.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
Katy Cooke and Iffy Mora lead the Cardinals in scoring with 11.6 and 11.4 points per game, while senior Chloe Wallace has struggled of late failing to crack double figures in her last eight games. Her season average has dropped to just 8.4 ppg.
Tarleton is 14-8 all-time against Incarnate Word and 5-4 in San Antonio. Last season's road win against the Cardinals was the first win in S.A. for Tarleton since 1992.
Tip-off in San Antonio is set for 2 p.m. against the Cardinals and the men's game will follow immediately.
