STEPHENVILLE – The Texans and Javelinas wrapped up their regular season series on Sunday with a 16-8 final in favor of A&M-Kingsville.
Noah Ringenberger finished the game with a 3-for-4 outing, but it would not be enough for Tarleton as they allowed 16 runs on 19 hits in the contest.
Kingsville took a 1-0 lead in the first when the Javelinas scored on a Tarleton error.
The Texans quickly responded though with an RBI double by Noah Ringenberger in the bottom of the first, making it a 1-1 contest.
In the second, the Javelinas scored a pair to take a 3-1 advantage.
Once again Tarleton would answer as Evan Robinson executed a successful sacrifice bunt which plated Austin Coble.
Kingsville managed to continue their offensive prowess and added two more runs in the third to push their lead to 5-2. Through the first three innings, the Javelinas recorded 10 hits.
Austin Coble cut the deficit to just one with his two-run single in the third. The score was then 5-4 heading into the fourth.
Neither pitching staff was able stifle the opposing offense and that was also displayed in the top of the fourth when Kingsville scored four more runs. It was now an 8-4 ball game.
Garrett Hardey got things going for the Texans again in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run blast to left field, cutting the margin to three runs.
A Kingsville run in the sixth made it a 10-6 ball game in the Javelinas' favor.
The Texans had just a few more at-bats to get their rally going, but they were never able to mount a full comeback.
Ryan Small and Andy Wolfe had RBI's in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 12-8 ball game.

After all was said and done though, Tarleton suffered a 16-8 loss at the hands of A&M-Kingsville.
Landon Thompson (0-1) was handed the loss after giving up four runs on eight hits in two innings on the mound.
Zach Pettiford (3-0) was awarded the win for Kingsville despite giving up six runs, five earned, on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.
The loss marks the seventh straight for Tarleton.
The Texans (12-14, 5-7) will return to action next weekend in San Antonio as they face Incarnate Word in a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.
