STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton Texans defeated Hardin Simmons 3-0 in the home finale Tuesday night after using eight different pitchers to combine for a three-hit shutout.
Tarleton got off to a quick start with a two-run double by Landon Thompson to left-center. That hit plated Noah Ringenberger, who walked to reach base, and Blake Silguero, who singled to left.
That score would remain until the sixth inning when Ringenberger made it a 3-1 contest with an RBI single to left.
It would be a low scoring game for both sides as the Texan pitching staff was lights out on the night. Tarleton used eight pitchers in the contest.
Joesph Rubalcaba (1-0) picked up the win after tossing shutout fourth and fifth innings. Austin Coble (S, 1) tossed a shutout ninth for his first save of the year.
Jordan Dotson (1-1) got the loss for HSU after allowing two runs in 3 1/3 innings on the mound.
In the game, the Texans totaled eight hits and benefited from three Cowboy errors. Thompson provided two of the Tarleton RBI's, while Ringenberger provided the other. Andrew Jacobi and Evan Robinson both finished the game with a pair of hits.
Tarleton will head out on the road for the remainder of the season as they take on Abilene Christian for a four-game set this weekend.
