STEPHENVILLE - The Tarleton baseball team will take on Texas Wesleyan Tuesday in Fort Worth starting at 4 p.m. for the final non-conference game of the season.
The Texans are 21-19 on the year and 12-12 in Lone Star Conference play. Coming off a 3-1 series win over Abilene Christian, Tarleton is collecting wins to help their position in the LSC standings and regional rankings. The Rams will be a non-conference opponent and the last out-of-conference game for the Texans this season.
On the year, Tarleton is hitting for a .290 average compared to opponents' .287 mark. The Texans also have a slugging percentage of .423 and an on-base percentage of .386.
Noah Ringenberger leads the team with a .329 average to go with 21 RBI's and 30 runs scored.
Ryan Small has added a .318 mark, 21 extra-base hits and leads the way with 33 RBI's, seven home runs and 36 runs scored.
Garrett Hardey has been the major threat on the base paths with 14 stolen bases in 16 attempts.
The Texan pitching staff is coming off a week in which they totaled a 1.79 ERA in four victories. On the season, Tarleton has a 4.90 ERA and 261 strikeouts in 323 innings of work.
Pete Perez has been the ace of the staff with a 6-3 record, 2.74 ERA and 64 strikeouts, while
Matt Buckmaster is 5-1 with a 3.70 ERA.
Britt Robertshaw has been solid in the closer's role with five saves, including three in the past four games.
The Rams will be a tough non-conference opponent for the Texans after posting a 33-18 record and an 18-7 home mark. This will be the final regular season contest for Texas Wesleyan this season.
The TWU offense is hitting for a .278 average with 20 home runs, 89 doubles and 307 strikeouts. Justin Barnes leads the team with 41 RBI's and 52 hits, including 18 doubles. Alex Padilla has added 30 RBI's and 11 extra-base hits, while Taylor Jockers has stolen a team-high 12 bases.
As far as pitching goes, the Rams have a 3.19 ERA and 12 saves on the year in 405 2/3 innings of work. Nolan Barbee has been lights-out with a 7-2 record, two saves, and a 2.38 ERA. Derek Vaughn and Dillion Wilson have five and six wins respectively, while Patrick Stanley has a team-high nine saves.
