STEPHENVILLE - The Tarleton football team will take on the fourth-ranked Mustangs of Midwestern State at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at Tarleton Memorial Stadium.
The Texans are coming off a 6-5 season and bring back 68 underclassmen for the upcoming campaign. Third-year head coach
Cary Fowler has the Tarleton squad ready to make a run at the Lone Star Conference Championship, but first has to get through a tough Midwestern State team.
The Mustangs enter the game as the No. 4 team in the nation according to the AFCA poll and will play their first game of the season as well. Last year, MSU powered their way to a LSC Championship and a spot in the NCAA Playoffs thanks to the most dangerous offense in the nation. Head coach Bill Maskill will look to replace some veterans up front, but returns key skill players on both offense and defense.
The Texans will look to avenge a tough loss in Wichita Falls last year, as the two teams meet in Stephenville for the first time since 2009.
Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. on Saturday, with Texan Alley taking place prior to the game.
Live radio coverage is provided by KSTV 93.1 FM and the new Voice of the Texans,
Casey Hogan.
