STEPHENVILLE - In the Lone Star Conference's annual Rivalry Week, Tarleton will travel to Commerce for the first of back-to-back games against the Lions. The TexAnns are coming off a last second win over Texas Woman's while TAMUC has been off for a week after beating Eastern New Mexico 69-59.
Tarleton leads the all-time series against the Lions, which dates back to 1981, and have won the last four meetings. Prior to TAMUC's six-game winning streak over the TexAnns from 2006-08, the Lions have never won more than two consecutive games in the series.
Under head coach Ronnie Hearne, Tarleton is 6-6 against Commerce and 3-4 against the Lions in The Fieldhouse.

Last Time Out
Tarleton center Kiara Wright became just the sixth player in Tarleton's 18-year NCAA history to record a 30-point game, by dropping 34 points on 11-15 shooting from the floor and 12-16 shooting from the charity stripe on Texas Woman's - as well as hitting the game-winning layup off a pass from Peyton Adamson - to give Tarleton a 71-69 win. Adamson was the only other TexAnn in double-figures with 15 points while Morgan Ashmore tied a career mark with seven assists.
Last Year's Meetings
Last year was a season to forget for the Lions, who suffered through a conference-worst 2-24 record (1-19 LSC), including back-to-back losses to the TexAnns. In the two meetings last year, it was almost identical stories as Tarleton went to the Fieldhouse and blew out the Lions 89-61 before returning to Stephenville for a 91-61 victory in Wisdom Gym. Peyton Adamson was a top scorer in both contests, scoring 18 in Commerce and 17 in Stephenville.
Wright has sights set on Tarleton history
After 16 games, Kiara Wright has 195 rebounds to give her 636 for her Tarleton career and is now tied with JoAnne Jones (636) for 8th place on the all-time list. With one more rebound, she will pass Jones on the all-time list and make Wright Tarleton's all-time leading rebounder in the school's NCAA history. The top seven members of the list competed in the NAIA.
She is rapidly climbing up the indivdual rebounding lists. Her 437 career defensive rebounds have her currently in fourth place all-time while her 199 offensive boards are good for 10th place all-time, so far. (NOTE: Rebounds were not kept as a divided statistic at Tarleton until the 1987 season.) Wright has 24 career double-doubles in regular season and postseason contests - 11 this season. She has scored 20 points in four games this season and seven times in her career while recording her first 20-rebound game at Midwestern State this season as well as her first 30-point game Jan. 23.
Injury Report: Shanae Lowrance & Karli Moore
Tarleton junior center, Shanae Lowrance, suffered an injury in the TexAnns last outing at Midwestern State. After scoring four points and grabbing two rebounds in seven minutes of action, Lowrance went down with a season-ending knee injury. In addition to the loss of Lowrance, Tarleton's post depth took another hit when Karli Moore was lost for the season with an injury to her right hand.
Honoring a wounded teammate
Following the news of Shanae Lowrance's season-ending knee injury, TexAnn teammate Kiara Wright asked to change jersey numbers for the remainder of the season - trading in her 32 for Lowrance's 33.
34-point performance
Wednesday night Kiara Wright recorded a career high 34 points, including the game winner with 14 seconds left, to make her the sixth TexAnn in the school's 18-year NCAA history to accomplish the feat. She joins Saresa Butler (30), Jana Skelton (34, 34), Misty Wilson (33, 33), Shea Kester (36) and Tarleton Hall of Famer Rachelle Bowen (30, 49, 30, 32) to crack the 30-point plateau. Her 11-15 shooting from the field ties her for the best field goal percentage in a 30-point game in the NCAA era with her coach Misty Wilson (11-15, .733) and she is one of just two players (Skelton) to reach the mark without making or attempting a 3-point shot.
Lion Tamers
In two meetings last season, Tarleton's Peyton Adamson put together back-to-back outstanding performances and averages 17.5 points per game in her career against Texas A&M-Commerce. In Commerce last season, she was 6-7 from the floor including 4-4 from downtown and 2-2 at the free throw line. Meanwhile, Kiara Wright also averages nine points in her three career meetings. The Lions are one of three LSC rivals (Cameron and West Texas A&M) against whom Wright has never recorded a double-double.
Last Time Out for the Lions
Texas A&M-Commerce opened the game on a 10-2 run and never looked back against Eastern New Mexico as the Lions cruised to a 69-59 win last Saturday. The Lions were led by a combined 26 points from their post starters Breanna Harris (16) and LaTisha Hearne (10) while Symone Brown added 12 points off the bench.
