WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Tarleton State senior linebacker
Marquis Wadley has been named a Daktronics First Team All-Super Region Four selection, according to a release from the office of the regional coordinator.
Wadley, a three-year letterwinner with the Texans, led the team in tackling for a third consecutive year after finishing the 2013 regular-season with a league-high 126 total tackles and eight of those tackles going for negative yards. His 126 total tackles ranks seventh in the nation as well.
Wadley also recorded seven pass break-ups, forced four fumbles on the season and became a major threat on special teams after gaining 67 yards on three fake punts and scoring a 39-yard touchdown as well.
Wadley played an inspirational part in helping guide the Texans to a 7-3 overall record and earning the Co-Lone Star Conference Championship with a 5-1 mark in league play.
The Dallas native, who earned Second Team All-Lone Star Conference honors, will now move onto the national ballot for All-American voting.
The Texans will play in the Heart of Texas Bowl this Saturday in Copperas Cove. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Bulldawg Stadium.
