Baseball win streak snapped with 3-0 loss to Texas Wesleyan

Nico Moran extended his hit streak to 18 games on Tuesday.
Box Score FORT WORTH, Texas – The Tarleton Texan baseball team snapped its nine-game win streak after falling 3-0 in non-conference action to Texas Wesleyan at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth on Tuesday.
 
The Texans (15-7-1) were held to just seven hits throughout nine innings on the road and finish the season splitting the series with the Rams (20-12). Tarleton defeated TWU 6-4 in Stephenville earlier this season.
 
The Rams drove in a run in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, while TWU's pitching combination of Sam Martin, Nolan Barbee, Sean Simonz and Patrick Stanley shutdown the Texans over nine innings.
 
Tarleton had just seven hits in 33 at bats on Tuesday and left all seven runners on base.
 
Nico Moran and Alvaro Moreno managed to get a hit each in the game, extending their current hit streaks. Moran has hit safely in 18 consecutive games and Moreno has a 16-game hitting streak, respectively.
 
Tarleton threw eight pitchers in the game with Colt Molloy (ND) getting the start for the Texans in his first action on the mound since Feb. 28, 2012. Ross Wagliardo (0-1) took the loss for the Texans, giving up one run on one hit in his fourth inning of work.
 
The Texans return to Lone Star Conference action this weekend with a four-game series against West Texas A&M in Canyon. The two teams will open-up the series this Friday, Mar. 22 with a first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. at Wilder Park.
