A four-run sixth inning for the Wildcats broke a 1-1 tie and the Texan offense could only manage one more run against ACU starting pitcher Ty Taylor (W, 5-4), who yielded just two runs despite giving up eight hits. Taylor fanned seven batters in his eight full innings of work before giving way to Brady Rodriguez in the final inning.

Garrett Kelly (L, 4-4) came on to relieve Yosko in the top of the fourth inning and gave up a run in the top of the fifth inning that tied the game at 1-1. Following a leadoff double to Chuck Duarte in the top of the sixth inning, Kelly managed to get a couple of batters out in between a walk and Landon Thompson came into relieve him with the count 2-0 on Rodge Macy at the plate.

Macy reached base on an error and Duarte scored to give ACU its first lead of the series. Reed Watson followed with his first home run of the season, a three-run shot with one of the runs going to Kelly's line.

Britt Robertshaw worked the final three innings for the Texans, giving up two runs on just one hit while striking out two batters.
