ON DECK
• The Tarleton Texas (20-10-1, 9-3 LSC) make a return to Cecil Ballow Baseball Complex following its nine-game road swing, hosting the Incarnate Word Cardinals (20-11, 6-6 LSC) in Lone Star Conference action this weekend.
• Tarleton and UIW will open-up the series on Friday, Apr. 5 at 3 p.m. and then play a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 6 that begins at 1 p.m. The two teams will conclude the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
HOT DOG COOKOUT
• The Tarleton Athletics department will host a hot dog cookout for all fans in attendance at Saturday's doubleheader.
• Free hot dogs and beverages will be served from noon to first pitch (1 p.m.). Free Tarleton Baseball t-shirts will be available as well, on a first-come-first-served basis.

• Saturday's doubleheader with the Cardinals will have radio play-by-play for both games and will be aired live on Tarleton's student radio airwaves, KTRL.
• The broadcast can be found locally on your radio dial at 100.7 FM or by web stream at ktrl.fm.
ABOUT THE TEXANS
• The Texans are coming off a 2-2 weekend at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Tarleton dropped the first two games of the four-game set on Thursday 4-0 and 6-1, but turned around to sweep Friday's doubleheader 7-2 and 6-4.
• TAMUK scored first in all four games, but Tarleton came back to pick up victories in the final two games.
• The Texans moved to 20-10-1 overall and 9-3 in LSC play. Tarleton is now tied with Abilene Christian for the top spot in the conference.
•
Alvaro Moreno hit .571 on the weekend on his way to being named LSC Hitter of the Week.
•
Garrett Kelly (3-2) and
Kody Thiebaud (1-0) each picked up wins in relief efforts for the Texans this weekend.
•
Alvaro Moreno leads the Texans with a .439 batting average and also leads the team in hits (54), home runs (4), runs batted in (37) and slugging percentage (.585).
•
Ryan Small continues to lead the team with 12 doubles, but
Colten Boothe is right behind him with 11.
Rustin Thomas leads the Texans with four triples on the year.

Miguel Ramirez and
Matt Buckmaster are tied for the team lead with four wins each. Ramirez leads the team with 43 strikeouts.

Landon Thompson leads the pitching staff with a 1.72 earned run average in 10 appearances this year. Ramirez' 2.34 ERA leads all starters in the same category.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
• UIW head coach Danny Heep is in his 16th season with the Cardinals and has an overall record of 524-321 heading into this weekend's series. Heep picked up his 500th career win against West Texas A&M last season; an 8-7 victory on Apr. 22, 2012.
• The Cardinals have won four-straight games after sweeping its four-game series against Cameron this weekend. UIW outscored CU 27-10, which included a 12-0 shutout over the Aggies.
• Prior to its current win streak, UIW had lost five out of six games and seven of its last nine contests. Before it losing streak, UIW had been ranked as high as No. 12 in the Mar. 4 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper national poll.
• John Zule leads the Cardinals at the plate with a .388 batting average. He and Derrick Walls lead the team with 53 total bases on the season.
• Adam Pena and Zac Russell are tied for the team lead with three home runs each. Russell leads the team with nine doubles on the year.
• Dylan Boss (4-3) has a team-best 3.40 earned run average. He has given up 17 earned runs in 45.0 innings of work on the season. He leads the pitching staff with 47 K's as well.
• Joe Mills is the team leader with three saves on the year.
SERIES NOTES
• The Cardinals lead the all-time series 49-20, but the Texans have won the previous two meetings between the two teams.
• Tarleton and UIW split its season series with each other last year, but Tarleton downed the Cardinals 5-3 early in the season in Odessa and then again 3-2 in the LSC Championship tournament.
• Tarleton is 6-5 against UIW since the Cardinals joined the LSC in 2011.
• Head coach
Bryan Conger is 6-8 when playing UIW, but is 2-2 when playing the Cardinals in Stephenville.
ANOTHER TEXAN TABBED LSC HITTER OF THE WEEK
•
Alvaro Moreno has been named this week's LSC Hitter of the Week after guiding the Texans to a pair of wins over No. 16-ranked Texas A&M-Kingsville.
• Moreno had the highest batting average of any player in Tarleton's series against he Javelinas this past weekend, as he hit .571 with eight hits in 14 plate appearances. He walked twice and finished the weekend with a .625 on-base percentage as well. Moreno drove in a run and scored two runs to help the Texans move to 9-3 in LSC play and stay in first-place for a third straight week.
• This is Moreno's second LSC Hitter of the Week honor and Tarleton's third overall for the season. Moreno was tabbed the LSC Hitter of the Week on Mar. 5, while
Ryan Small earned the same honor last week.
TOUCH 'EM ALL
• The Texans are tied for third in the LSC in home runs having hit 13 dingers this season. TAMUK currently leads the LSC with 15 home runs this year.
•
Alvaro Moreno leads the team with his four home runs this season. He is followed by
Colten Boothe's three long balls on the year.
• Tarleton hit eight home runs during its LSC series against ENMU a few weeks ago.
TARLETON IN THE NATIONAL POLLS
• The Texans moved up one spot in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's Top-30 poll this week, coming in at No. 28 after debuting at No. 29 in the rankings last week.
• For the first time this season, Tarleton received votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association Top-25 poll.
• Tarleotn has been ranked inside the NCWBA or CBN for three consecutive seasons under head coach
Bryan Conger. Tarleton had never been ranked in any national top-25 poll before Conger took over.
UP NEXT
• Tarleton will host St. Mary's in non-conference action on Wednesday, Apr. 10, to complete the two-game series between the two teams. The Rattlers defeated the Texans 4-1 in San Antonio earlier this season.
• The Texans hit the road next weekend for the last time in the regular-season, heading to San Angelo to take on Angelo State in a four-game series. The series will get underway on Friday, Apr. 12 at 6 p.m.
