Box Score CANYON, Texas – The No. 18-ranked Tarleton Texans dropped its first game of the Lone Star Conference Baseball Championship Tournament on Saturday, falling 4-0 in second-round action to Angelo State at Wilder Park in Canyon.
The Texans (33-15-1) left eight men on base in the game and the Rams (34-18) managed to score a pair of runs in both the fourth and sixth innings on a pair of errors by the Tarleton defense.
Texan starter
Pete Perez (L, 5-2) face the minimum over the first three innings, but after allowing ASU's Lee Neumann to reach base on a walk and then move over to second base on a balk, Christian Summers drove in one of his two runs batted in to put the Rams on top 1-0.
The Rams added another run in the inning to extend its lead to 2-0 and after getting out of the fifth inning unharmed, Perez allowed another two runs in the sixth inning following an error from the Texan outfield, which pushed ASU's lead to 4-0.
The Texans managed to get its leadoff runner on base in four of the nine innings, but starting pitcher Mike Weatherly (W, 7-3) got out of those jams and did not allow a run in his 7.0 innings of work and picking up his seventh win of the year.
The loss pits Tarleton against tonight's West Texas A&M/Texas A&M-Kingsville loser in an elimination game on Sunday, which is scheduled to begin at noon in Canyon. The game will be aired live on KSTV-FM (93.1) in the Stephenville area and will also be webcast on

Miguel Ramirez is scheduled to take the mound for the Texans on Sunday. The First Team All-LSC selection is 8-1 on the year with a 1.93 earned run average.
